YOSEMITE AT 3AM .

Tunnel View is a scenic viewpoint on State Route 41 in Yosemite National Park. Visitors have seen and documented the iconic and expansive views of Yosemite Valley from the overlook since its opening in 1933.
Taken almost five hours after Light and Shadows...
My eyes were drawn immediately to the circle, stripe and honeycomb shadows on the ground as I entered the river park, I think I have an addiction to shadows these days. 😔
Gandalf yells a final warning, You shall not pass!!!!
If you haven't noticed, this one was captured using a Nikon......What a Nikon? Yeah, yeah, i'm officially on the fence with camera manufactures and will probably be there for a while. After shooting several nights with both have found when to shoot with which camera and why. I'll still be limited on the Nikon side until I can acquire a few more lenses but that too shall pass, hehe.
Took this photo, during our last workshops in July where we offered our participants an option of including a character in the scene. This one was so much fun creating and we all enjoyed a night dreaming up whimsical scenes with a variety of characters throughout the duration of the workshop.
Our model in this scene is Kialo Winters of Navajo Tours USA, His patience and expertise was instrumental in creating this scene and a big shout-out to Wayne Pinkston for providing the workshops and costumes. Thanks guys, you truly rock!!!
This was something kinda new and we thought it would be a fun workshop to try out some costumes, well what do you think, would you be interested in a photo like this, if so, please leave a comment and tell me what you think about it!!!.

A view of the El Sombrerico rock in Almería, Spain, in landscape mode, with the Milky Way right on top of it moments before the moon rising - in fact the reddish glow on the left belongs to the moon.

Una vista de la peña El Sombrerico en Mojácar, Almería, con la Vía Láctea justo sobre esta roca momentos antes de la salida de la luna - de hecho el resplandor rojizo de la izquierda corresponde precisamente a la luna.

Big thunderstorm in the Australian outback. We had set up camp on a hill top, and all evening we had this amazing view of the storm building up and justr as the sun went down the lightning starting flashing and it kept going for maybe 2 hours, amazing :)
Taken during a workshop on the last night of the Nightscape Photography Conference. It was a long difficult hike to get back in to this spot that Wayne had me scout the night before. Of course I didn't hike out there to scout it I used Google Earth, yep Google Earth I set up the time and location and the Milky Way lined right up just like you see here. That, I think is the worst keep secret in photography in the fact that most people have only used G.E. in its basic configuration but if you tweak a few settings you can slide through time and actually see the M.W. move into position right over your subject...In beautiful, stunning 3D no less. This was our last chance to grab some milky way before we all had to head our way back to our homes and reality, so i guess i should have called this one "closing night".
I have started a Meet-up group for those of you who live in So Cal.
In an effort to bring my photography interests closer to home I have created this group to build a community of landscape, nightscape, and nature photographers here in the Southern California area.
Here's the link www.meetup.com/Adventure-Photography-Network-Group/
These are not workshops! This is hanging out together shooting the outdoors, sharing ideas, being creative, and growing a community…..together as friends and colleagues. Each participant will need to be self-sufficient!!

Morro Rock --- By Vincent Lowry
“Beneath a blue dome, above an azure sea
A volcanic prodigy stands proudly to the heavens
Caressed by the tide; encircled by a cloud of feathered hunters
Nature’s landmark beckons a sojourn for all sea-drained travelers
Its base, a dozen vessels strong; its peak, a half-score of stacked masts
Those at shore stand and marvel
The brilliance of the bay
The uncompromising grandeur and enchantment of Morro Rock”
That poem by Vincent Lowry simplifies the beauty of Morro Bay. Perhaps most notable is its namesake, Morro Rock, which sticks out prominently from the ocean as if it were a Pacific version of Gibraltar.
Arrived for sunset at Morro Bay, could not find the best location for photographing it. The wind was strong, took couple photos on the beach, returned at dark next morning (after searching best sunrise location online). The photo was taken before blue hour, manually focusing, capturing the stars on the sky! 😉 Great beach to collect shells and capture the sand patterns later after golden hour!

Frigiliana, province of Málaga, autonomous community of Andalusia, Southern Spain.
Frigiliana Coordinates....: 36°47′N 3°54′W
Frigiliana is a town and municipality in the province of Málaga, part of the autonomous community of Andalusia in southern Spain. The municipality is situated approximately 71 kilometers east of Málaga, the provincial capital, and approximately 6 kilometers north of Nerja. It is located in the comarca of La Axarquía, the easternmost region of the province, and integrated into the judicial district of Torrox
The muncipal DISTANCE FROM the village, on the 976-metre high El Fuerte hill, stands a location known as Frigiliana la Vieja, (Old Frigiliana), where remains of Roman fortifications, dwellings and coins dating back to imperial times have been found. However, it was not until Moslem times that the first real settlement appeared, with groups of houses being built and subsequently protected by an Arabic alcázar or fortress, thus providing the origins of the present-day village, which, by the 11th century, was known as Fixniana. In May 1487, shortly after the fall of Velez Malaga into Christian hands, representatives of Frigiliana´s Moslem community paid homage to the Catholic Monarchs in an attempt to avoid reprisals and conserve some semblance.

This was taken on a ski trip i did this week in central Norway. we walked 5 hours into the mountains to stay in a little cabin far away from any towns and other people. There was no lights around and the stars looked amazing. i was going to take some more photos the second night, but the wind came in full force and there was no chance of seeing anything, so this will do:)
