Ladrón Peak is the only major peak in the compact range (really one large massif) known as the Sierra Ladrones, which lies between the Rio Puerco to the east and the Rio Salado to the southwest.
The name of the peak means "thief", and "Sierra Ladrones" means "thieves' mountains." Navajo and Apache raiding parties, and later Hispanic and Anglo rustlers, used the mountains as hideouts, hence the name. Evidence of human occupation goes back over 10,000 years, and more recent prehistoric use occurred by the Mogollon and Anasazi cultures.

But get victory over the evil.
The pass of peaceful peoples survival,
We’ll get if the fight for good is global.
The evil can be certainly defeated
If the truth is everywhere greeted.
Truth is the main strength of Good
And lie is the only evils food.
When the truth wins and a lie dies,
Ukrainians will be happy guys.
Ukraine is a small part of a big world.
To brothers of Russia or Europe it turned
For support and understanding to be earned,
As sufferings have already been learned.
And only together the evil can be burnt.
The movement of Good begins with true Ukraine.
The victory of freedom and democracy is the main.
For good future of the country we have to realize
Who tells the truth and who definitely lies.
To be tolerant and certain
There is no a country without a righteous man!
There is no a country without believing in a good plan.
No one can do everything,
But everyone can do something,
Nothing will happen if we do nothing.
Future exists because of good believes
And we create it on our own achieves.
Without saying “I can not”,

Everyone can do a lot.
The fateful decision is to treasure the land,
Ukraine and the Ukrainian resources to defend.

* Un lugar llamado Gólgota. Trabajo de recreación sobre una estampa extraída de la pantalla del televisor, de un documental docente.
* Presenciábamos una disertación sobre “La historicidad de Jesús de Nazaret” que a veces ilustraban con dibujos juveniles y muy naïf sobre la alocución que el profesor hacía. Ésta, precisamente, la repetían con frecuencia y nos gustó. Le hice una foto a la pantalla del televisor y la capturé para posteriormente trabajarla y rehacerla con el PSP 7 y Adobe Photoshop.
En los días actuales, que tan decisivos son para mi vida, estas secuencias me llegan muy hondo y las llevo a lo más profundo de mi alma.

As blue as the sky is it was still bitterly cold and only just above freezing when I took this. Way off in the distance is Ladron Peak an isolated, highly visible peak in central New Mexico, lying about 50 miles southwest of Albuquerque. Ladron Peak is the only major peak in the compact range known as the Sierra Ladrones, which lies between the Rio Puerco to the east and the Rio Salado to the southwest.
The name of the peak means thief. Navajo and Apache raiding parties, and later Hispanic and Anglo rustlers, used the mountains as hideouts, hence the name.

Sobre el crucero se alza la magnífica cúpula con un mosaico de Santiago Padrós. De frente, se observa en el centro la imagen, típicamente bizantina y románica, del “Pantocrator”: Cristo todopoderoso, Rey y Juez, en majestad, con el libro de la Vida en el que aparece inscrita la frase “Ego sum lux mundi” (“Yo soy la luz del mundo”). La típica “mandorla o almendra mística” del arte románico que le rodea está conformada por alas de serafines y querubines. La presencia de los ángeles en el Cielo está claramente representada asimismo por otros más en el mosaico, con incensarios y espadas, según las descripciones simbólicas de algunos textos del Antiguo y del Nuevo Testamento.
Por debajo de Cristo se observa el tema del triunfo o la exaltación de la Santa Cruz, titular del santuario. La “Vera Cruz”, la verdadera cruz de Nuestro Señor, está siendo ensalzada sobre el Monte Calvario, donde se descubren las de los dos ladrones que fueron crucificados a sus lados.
A la derecha de Jesucristo se sitúa un grupo amplio de santos españoles con Santiago el Mayor a la cabeza, y a la izquierda otro de mártires españoles presididos por San Pablo (es decir, los dos Apóstoles que, según la tradición, vinieron a predicar a España). Se encuentra aquí resumida toda la Historia de España como nación católica.
Desde el lado opuesto, en el centro se sitúa el grupo de la Asunción de la Virgen, elevada al cielo por ángeles desde una montaña que representa la de Montserrat. La representación de Montserrat se debe a los siguientes motivos: la Virgen de esta advocación es la Patrona de Cataluña, Padrós era catalán (concretamente de Tarrasa), además su esposa tenía ese nombre y en cierto momento estuvo a punto de venir una comunidad de monjes benedictinos de Montserrat a hacerse cargo del santuario, antes de que se tratara con la Abadía de Silos. Sobre la montaña se descubre la sierra de carpintero, de tal modo que está plasmado así el escudo de la Abadía de Montserrat. En la propia montaña, por otro lado, existe una vieira, venera o concha de Santiago, en alusión al nombre del artista, y la inscripción referente a su elaboración por él.
A los lados del grupo de la Asunción de la Virgen están los caídos civiles y religiosos y los caídos militares en la Guerra de 1936-39.
El mosaico, de más de cinco millones de teselas, fue elaborado en plano en el Teatro Real de Madrid, con la dificultad de tener que incorporarlo luego a un plano abovedado, de cúpula, lo cual se hizo por el denominado método indirecto. Por eso, una vez instalado, Padrós observó que entre la columna central de ángeles del grupo de la Asunción (la única columna diseñada originalmente) y los dos grupos de caídos, especialmente el de los contendientes, había un espacio muy grande. Para romper esa distancia, ya sobre el sitio decidió levantar otras dos columnas laterales de ángeles de tamaño más pequeño y juguetones.
El genio artístico de Padrós le llevó a realizar retratos reales de personajes, tanto históricos (algunos santos, por ejemplo San Ignacio y Santa Teresa), como otros que dibujaba en el Metro de Madrid para plasmarlos en el mosaico, y como su propio autorretrato y el de su esposa, o bien el de otros personajes notables de la época (entre ellos, Miguel de Unamuno en el papel de San Raimundo de Fitero).
Para salvar el mosaico de las humedades que se preveían y que de hecho se observan a simple vista en varias partes de la Basílica, Diego Méndez construyó una doble cúpula: sobre la del mosaico, que está recubierta por una capa de tela asfáltica que la impermeabiliza, existe un vano muy amplio y otra cúpula superior.

Below Christ the theme of the triumph or exaltation of the Holy Cross, owner of the sanctuary, is observed. The “True Cross”, the true cross of Our Lord, is being exalted on Mount Calvary, where those of the two thieves who were crucified at its sides are discovered.

En un anochecer de primavera en Atenas quedó reflejado la “roca sagrada”, este monte emblemático de la cultura occidental, el yacimiento arqueológico más importante de Grecia y se encuentra en el centro de la actual ciudad.
La acrópolis contiene tres templos construidos en mármol, el Partenón, el Erecteion y el templo de Atenea Niké. Presenta también un acceso monumental llamado Propilea. Todos los monumentos en la Acrópolis fueron construidos durante la edad dorada de Pericles, conocida como período clásico (450-330 A.C.).

Fa unes setmanes que van suprimir el servei Regional l'Hospitalet-Lleida. Això fa pensar que aquestes unitats ja no tornin a trepitjar l'estació de Manresa. A la foto, la 440.156 C a punt d'entrar a Manresa, el dia després de la nevada.
Desde Abril que duran las obras en el tramo Manresa-Calaf, gracias a los ladrones de cable de catenaria que la han robado ya dos veces. Hace unas semanas que suprimieron el servicio Regional l'Hospitalet-Lleida. Esto hace pensar que esas unidades ya no volverán a pisar la estación de Manresa. En la foto, la 440.156 C a punto de entrar en Manresa, el día después de la nevada.

It is strange, but this scene of Jesus crucified with the two thieves that is inside the grounds of the church of Saint Pierre de Montmartre, I did not find it in any of the photos that Google offers of said church. That makes me think that maybe it's something quite recent.
La iglesia de Santiago Apóstol es un templo parroquial católico de la ciudad de Valladolid (Castilla y León, España). Sita en la calle vallisoletana del mismo nombre, fue construida en diferentes etapas y estilos entre los siglos XV y XVII. Es sede de la Cofradía de las Siete Palabras.
La iglesia se construyó sobre una pequeña ermita de comienzos del siglo XII, que hacia 1400 sería elevada a la categoría de iglesia parroquial. Como consecuencia del desarrollo de la zona del centro urbano de Valladolid, motivada por la actividad comercial de la cercana Plaza Mayor, a finales del siglo XV la iglesia se había quedado pequeña para acoger a la creciente feligresía. Además, la cabecera presentaba un estado ruinoso. El rico mercader y banquero D. Luis de la Serna se convirtió en el patrono del templo, acordando con la autoridad eclesiástica costear su completa reedificación a cambio de permitírsele utilizar la Capilla Mayor como panteón familiar.
La obra se contrató con el arquitecto guipuzcoano Juan de Arandia, quien desde 1499 había dirigido la construcción de la Iglesia del monasterio de San Benito el Real. Concluida la cabecera en 1500, cuatro años después, Juan de Arandia y García de Olave comenzaron a levantar, adosada al ábside, la torre de sección cuadrada, a la que se añadió un remate octogonal en 1610. A principios del siglo XVII se arruinó parte de la nave, por lo que en 1615 el arquitecto Francisco de Praves trazó una nueva estructura de bóveda y capillas de aires protobarrocos que fue ejecutada por los maestros de obras Martín de Répide, Juan del Valle y Juan Alonso Ballesteros.
En 1941 la Cofradía de las Siete Palabras trasladó aquí su sede desde la iglesia de San Miguel y San Julián.
Todo el exterior del templo presenta un aspecto austero, sin apenas concesiones decorativas, además de estar parcialmente enmascarado, en su lado del mediodía, por una edificación moderna que hace la función de pórtico de acceso y que acoge las dependencias de la parroquia y la confradía. La sobriedad de la portada occidental, compuesta con aparejo mixto de sillería y ladrillo, es apenas rota por un óculo vidriado. En el paño central del ábside se halla empotrado un relieve gótico de Santiago Matamoros, protegido por arco alfiz. El único elemento verdaderamente característico de la fábrica exterior es la torre, formada por cinco cuerpos separados por cordones, un elemento decorativo preservado del arte gótico hispano-flamenco. El chapitel octogonal que lo corona tiene sabor escurialense.
El interior presenta una sola y espaciosa nave, con cortas capillas laterales situadas entre los contrafuertes. La reforma integral ejecutada a principios del siglo XVII produjo un abovedamiento de cañón con lunetos sobre arcos fajones que apean en pilastras fasciculadas, una reminiscencia del gótico original del templo, y cuyos plementos están decorados con sencillas yeserías barrocas. La anterior cubierta era de madera y estaba sustentada por arcos diafragma. A los pies se sitúa el coro alto, alzado sobre un pequeño pórtico cubierto con un artesonado de comienzos del siglo XVI, en cuyos casetones se distinguen veneras con la cruz de la Orden de Santiago.
En la Capilla de las Siete Palabras se venera el espléndido Santo Cristo de las Mercedes, acompañado por los Dos Ladrones. El Crucificado es obra realizada entre 1550 y 1560 por el círculo de Pompeyo Leoni, quien talló un cuerpo de bastante mayor tamaño que el natural, muy anatómico y robusto, con marcadas articulaciones y musculatura. Concebida originalmente como pieza de retablo, este Cristo se atribuyó erróneamente durante mucho tiempo al discípulo de Juan de Juni Francisco de la Maza.
Las figuras de los ladrones son reproducciones de los del paso de La Sexta Angustia, que se encuentra en el Museo Nacional de Escultura. Cabe señalar que el Buen Ladrón lleva el rostro del Duque de Lerma porque éste le adeudaba al artista una suma por su trabajo en el retablo de la Colegiata de Lerma. Las tres esculturas forman un paso procesional de la Semana Santa vallisoletana conocido como En tus manos encomiendo mi Espíritu, que representa la séptima palabra, perteneciente a la Cofradía de las Siete Palabras, que preside el Sermón de las Siete Palabras en la Plaza Mayor en la mañana de Viernes Santo.

A 110 kilomètres d' El Calafate , sur la route nationale n° 40, sur les rives de la rivière La Leona et à quelques mètres du lac Viedma, exactement à mi-chemin entre El Calafate et El Chaltén , se trouve ce site historique devenu depuis plusieurs années l'un des légendes de la Patagonie argentine.
Baptisé "Parador et Hôtel de Campo La Leona, Patrimoine historique et culturel de la province de Santa Cruz" par la province de Santa Cruz , cette distinction est très bien méritée.
Sa riche histoire fait de ce site un incontournable lors d'un voyage entre El Chaltén et El Calafate . Bandits, grimpeurs, braqueurs de banque, explorateurs, tous sont passés par La Leona. Dans la boutique de l'hôtel , un affichage de documents d'époque en atteste.

Named "Parador and Hotel de Campo La Leona, Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Province of Santa Cruz" by the Province of Santa Cruz, this distinction is well deserved.
Its rich history makes this site a must-see on a trip between El Chaltén and El Calafate. Bandits, climbers, bank robbers and explorers have all passed through La Leona. In the hotel shop, a display of documents from the period attests to this.

Su rica historia hace que este sitio sea una visita obligada en un viaje entre El Chaltén y El Calafate. Por La Leona han pasado bandidos, escaladores, ladrones de bancos y exploradores. En la tienda del hotel, una muestra de documentos de la época da fe de ello.

Maybe it´s a consequence of the Israel message, I don´t want to think bad, but I don´t believe in coincidences, moreover when lots of user are allowed to. In fact, my account "has been removed from flickr searches and other public sites" If I continue here is because the great number of friends I´ve meet, but I´m taking advantage of this in order to complain and let you see the kind of injustice that Flickr is doing these days. Ladron Peak (9,176 ft), Bernardo, New Mexico.
The name of the peak means "thief", and "Sierra Ladrones" means "thieves' mountains." Navajo and Apache raiding parties, and later Hispanic and Anglo rustlers, used the mountains as hideouts, hence the name. Evidence of human occupation goes back over 10,000 years, and more recent prehistoric use occurred by the Mogollon and Anasazi cultures.
Coll de Ladrones, año 1752-1990, procede de Cod de Latros o Cod de Ladrones, nombre que hace honor al monte donde se levantó, fortificación concebida por Felipe II, como también la Ciudadela o Castillo de San Pedro de Jaca y continuada con el Castillo de Canfranc y la Torre Espelunca.
Coll de Ladrones, pertenece a propietarios particulares, y en estos momentos se esta recuperando para darle un sentido turístico a dicha fortificación, dejándonos ver sus dependencias castrenses, sus baterías de artillería, así como también todos su rincones que albergaron en su día a 150 infantes y 50 artilleros, como a oficiales y gentes de intendencia con sus oficinas, enfermería, horno de pan, barracones de piedra etc.
Coll de Ladrones se autoabastecía, entre comillas, entre la nieve y el viento, como si se tratara de un verdadero bunker, y fue sin lugar a dudas una de las principales fortificaciones de nuestro Pirineo, (hace ya muchos años), y que hoy de la mano de varias instituciones a iniciativa junto a sus actuales propietarios, intentan recuperar “el castillo” para deleite de los turistas.
