So, to beat the January blues, I had two New Year’s resolutions this year:

1. yoga every day for the month of January

2. take part in the Dry January challenge

Canada’s latest alcohol consumption guidelines recommend two or less standard drinks per week. Because alcoholic beverages don’t come with a warning, a lot of people aren’t aware that even moderate alcohol consumption can cause various health problems including cancer.

Now that we’re into February, I’m technically “allowed” to have a proper drink, but now I’m not sure that I want to. Maybe I will wait for a special occasion… I hope to continue with daily home yoga as well. We’ll see how that goes. ;)

Sometimes I think that we put too much emphasis on human relationships. There’s a whole world out there to connect with! We’ve gone to the nature reserve multiple times in the past few weeks to feed the chickadees. On Friday, I had one after another land in my hand (sometimes two at a time!). It’s such a magical thing to do. You can hardly detect their weight, because they are so light. If your eyes are closed, it’s the whoosh of their wings and the feeling of their tiny claws on your skin that lets you know they are there.

Anyway, I’ve been thinking about connection and how essential it is for humans. This year we have to be a little more creative perhaps in finding ways to connect, but opportunities are always there.

Wishing you many peaceful/happy moments over the holidays and in the new year! ~

Beer label design idea

Having been drawn to wine label art for some time now, I've recently discovered the somewhat more austere beauty of upscale Scotch labels. While I've never had much of an infatuation with whiskey itself, I was surprised to find that I do in fact like good Scotch. I'm not sure whether it's fortunate or not that I have expensive tastes, as the pricetag on whiskey, like wine, certainly puts the best out of reach!

Seeing that the new year is upon us, I felt it right to end the year with a killer early dancehall tune featuring the duo Papa Finigan & Junior ranking. After hearing their first LP title "Two the Hard Way", I was impressed by their combination style, and how well they jelled together. I'm not aware of all the material by the two, all I know is that another LP exists, but I've never heard or seen it before. Back to the record..

Guiding Star, featured on the High Music imprint (love the minimal design!) places the duo on a slow but deadly drum and bass style rhythm, with wonderful guitar accents coming in and out. The mixing on it is great, lots of reverb, echo, delays (when done properly, can make a track just that much sweeter!). The duo does a great job chanting in style, giving thanks and praises, for guidance.

I wish I had more material by the duo as I rank them highly. They complimented each other nicely and really worked around the rhythm with style. Even though they used all the common lyrics at the time like "Flash it!", they managed to keep everything sounding fresh.

Custom Self Adhesive Labels

Custom self adhesive labels are manufactured in a diverse array of formats and also are used in an equally wide array of surroundings. Labels in many cases are required to withstand a selection of environmental conditions like deep freeze (-50c) to get some food labels, water submersion for maritime applications, scuffing from harsh surroundings such as construction material labelling, or heat by cooking or testing applications. Some labels are designed for aesthetic allure, specially for quality goods or ribbons of wines. A large amount of wine is reported to be bought with the label and also for this reason wine manufacturers are placing greater importance on the aesthetic significance of these etiquetas adesivas on their own bottles.

Amundsen Bryggeri - Fear the Reaper is an triple barrel aged imp stout.

Matured for 3 months in bright tank before being transfered into barrels. Three types of barrels used, bourbon, single malt and rum.

This beer was available just recently in a limited amount of total 1416.

ABV 11,5%.
