Kuranda is a rural town and locality on the Atherton Tableland in the Shire of Mareeba, Queensland, Australia. In the 2016 census, Kuranda had a population of 3,008 people. It is 25 kilometres from Cairns, via the Kuranda Range road. It is surrounded by tropical rainforest and adjacent to the Wet Tropics World Heritage listed Barron Gorge National Park. Kuranda is positioned on the eastern edge of the Atherton Tableland where the Barron River begins a steep descent to its coastal floodplain. The area is an important wildlife corridor between the Daintree/Carbine Tableland area in the north and Lamb Range/Atherton Tableland in the south, two centres of biodiversity. Parts of Kuranda, particularly along its eastern edge, are protected within the Kuranda National Park and Barron Gorge National Park. Both national parks belong to the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. Barron Gorge Forest Reserve and Formatine Forest Reserve have been established in the south of Kuranda. Closer to the centre of the town is Jumrum Creek Conservation Park where a near threatened, endemic frog species is protected. An elongated dam created by a weir built for a power station was constructed in 1935 and is used to today for recreation. The rainforest around Kuranda has been home to the Djabugay people for over 10,000 years. Europeans began to explore the area throughout the nineteenth century. It is believed a massacre of Aboriginal people took place at the location in Kuranda known as Skeleton Creek. The name Kuranda is derived from Yindinji word, kuran referring to the acorn leafed plant (Helmholtzia acorifolia). 22329
Blue dome of Sher-Dor Madrasah, Registan Square, city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan
Samarkand, also spelled Samarqand, has been at the crossroads of world cultures for over two and a half millennia, and is one of the most important sites on the Silk Routes traversing Central Asia. It is probably the most famous Uzbekistan’s historic city. It boasts very impressive architectural monuments and a rich history.
Sher-Dor Madrasah was built in 1619-1636. The name is translated as “Madrassah with Lions”. Ribbed domes on high towers soared over the two-storied facade on the sides of the front portal. On the outside and inside this Madrasah is decorated with bright ornaments of glazed brick, walls and towers are covered with majolica of various patterns of climber flowers and quotations from Kuran on Arabic.
No matter how many deaths that I die I will never forget
No matter how many lives I live I will never regret
There is a fire inside of this heart and a riot about to explode into flames
Where is your god, where is your god, where is your god

Bahreyn'in en buyuk camisi. Kuzey Afrika ve Endulus tarzi seziliyor. Maalesef cekim sirasinda isiklari kapatiyorlardi. Daha iyi olmasini isterdim, ama bu kadar oldu.
Bir sonraki karede kubbe etrafinda kufi hat ile yazilan Kuran ayetleri goruluyor.
Fateh Mosque is the largest and most magnificent mosque in Bahrain. Its architecture bears tokens of North African / Andalucian influence. The calligraphy is a typical example of this influence.
Next photo details the Kufic calligraphy around the dome.

Yeah I’ve discussed it with myself
And I’m disgusted with the way
We’re told to have a certain face
A certain weight, be flawless
We aren’t pixels on a screen
No we’re human, we breathe
Every single thing we see curated
It’s overrated

The rainforest around Kuranda has been home to the Djabugay people for over 10,000 years. Europeans began to explore and develop the area from the nineteenth century. The Speewah massacre occurred in the mid-1890s, when settler John Atherton sent native troopers as revenge for the death of a bullock.
From the 1970s onwards, Kuranda promoted itself as the 'village in the rainforest'. The concept served two purposes. It attracted those seeking a bohemian enclave in which to reside as well as a being a tourist promotional strategy. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s Kuranda was popular with alternative life stylers, a theme that still runs through the local community today.

Wilt thou go with me,
Through the valley-depths of shade,
Of night and dark obscurity;
Where the path has lost its way,
Where the sun forgets the day,
Where there's nor life nor light to see,
Wilt thou go with me?
Where stones will turn to flooding streams,
Where plains will rise like ocean waves,
Where life will fade like visioned dreams
And mountains darken into caves
Wilt thou go with me
In this strange death of life to be,
To live in death and be the same,
Without this life or home or name,
At once to be and not to be -
That was and is not -yet to see
Things pass like shadows, and the sky
Above, below, around us lie?

One of the most incredible conspiracy theories holds that the United States government never actually conducted atmospheric Atomic testing. This theory is no doubt fueled by the fact that Lookout Mountain Laboratories, the secret Air Force unit tasked with photographing these spectacular blasts, was located in Hollywood and employed the best equipment and minds the movie industry had to offer. The fascinating images they captured are featured in Peter Kuran's award-winning documentary “Trinity and Beyond”. The remarkable story of how they captured them is found in his book “How to Photograph an Atomic Bomb.” Learn more about this fascinating organization here: www.atomcentral.com/default.aspx
All 16 cameras, truck, and other equipment are accurate miniature versions of real-life equipment used to photograph Atomic bomb tests.

Neon – My narcissist vibe!!
Well, I‘m happy I made in, but I was shocked when everything went up 2 days earlier. It‘s unfair. Some people made their entries and some not and they was kicked out.. I hope it won‘t be like that next time. :)

Nero: Well I didn‘t expect in last theme I will be placing the 10th place, almost the last. And just for that, cause my background wasn’t diamonds.
For this theme, I tried to follow the rules, but still wanted to break them and make something different. If I’ll be kicked out for that, then be it. I just want to have fun and be unordinary! 😊😊

Remember to tag me in pics! this is gonna be my first impression of you:-
The Qur'an ("Qor-Ann") is a Message from Allah (swt) to humanity. It was transmitted to us in a chain starting from the Almighty Himself (swt) to the angel Gabriel to the Prophet Muhammad (saw). This message was given to the Prophet (saw) in pieces over a period spanning approximately 23 years (610 CE to 632 CE). The Prophet (saw) was 40 years old when the Qur'an began to be revealed to him, and he was 63 when the revelation was completed. The language of the original message was Arabic, but it has been translated into many other languages.
The above photo is of the first page of the Qur'an in Arabic, the surah is called "Al Fatiha". Below is an English translation:
01.01 In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
01.02 Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds;
01.03 Most Gracious, Most Merciful;
01.04 Master of the Day of Judgment.
01.05 Thee do we worship, and Thine aid we seek.
01.06 Show us the straight way,
01.07 The way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace, those whose (portion) is not wrath, and who go not astray.
...I'm in love with you
Darling
Tie the knot
Sweet darling
Let's get in
Oh darling
I'll Love -Pete and The Pirates
Kind of a simple song, but I really think it sums up Acadias feelings for Kuran quite well. Acadia even calls him darling from time to time. ^^
Indoor shot because I just really didn't feel like battling the heat today. :P
Time stands still
As you turn away
All my thoughts run wild
For a word to say
Should I reach for you
Could it be too late
Can we give it one more try..
Afar tribe girl writing on a wood board in a madrassa, a coranic school, Afambo, Ethiopia. The school was set under a giant palm tree. The kids were reading the Quran but in fact most of them were just repeating what they learnt by heart as they do not read arabic. When i saw the teacher, i first thought he was a doctor, as he had a stethoscope. In fact he was not a doctor and had no stethoscope, it was just a piece of plastic to beat (gently) the kids who were making mistakes!
