Scenic Issyk-Kul Lake lies in a large basin in eastern Kyrgyzstan surrounded by mountains. This is a view to the north from Fairy Tale Canyon. With extensive highway improvements being made between Bishkek and the lake, several new resorts are being developed especially near Cholpon-Ata on the north shore.

Issyk-Kul (Russian: Иссык-Куль) or Ysyk-Köl (Kyrgyz: Ысык-Көл [ɯsɯ́q kʰɵl]; lit. 'Hot Lake') is an endorheic saline lake in the western Tian Shan mountains in eastern Kyrgyzstan—just south of a dividing range separating Kyrgyzstan from Kazakhstan. It is the eighth-deepest lake in the world, the eleventh-largest lake in the world by volume, and the second-largest saline lake. It is located at an elevation of 1,607 metres (5,272 ft). Despite the elevation and low temperatures during winter, it rarely freezes due to its salinity and thermal activity. The lake water's salinity is approx. 0.6%, compared to 3.5% salinity of typical seawater.
The lake is a Ramsar site of globally significant biodiversity and forms part of the Issyk-Kul Biosphere Reserve.
Issyk-Kul Lake is 182 kilometres (113 mi) long, up to 60 kilometres (37 mi) wide and its surface area is 6,236 square kilometres (2,408 sq mi). It is the second-largest mountain lake in the world behind Lake Titicaca in South America. It is at an altitude of 1,607 metres (5,272 ft) and reaches 668 metres (2,192 ft) in depth.

A 1000 years old city situated in Russia ... I call the city as 'serambi mekah' russia ...

Song Kul lake is one of the most beautiful alpine lakes to visit in Kyrgyzstan. It lies in a remote valley above 3000 meters and is surrounded by high mountain pastures. The fertile marshlands make it a favourite destination for the nomadic Kyrgyz herdsmen to let their livestock graze in the green meadows.

Song Köl or Son-kul (literally "following lake) is an alpine lake in northern Naryn Province, Kyrgyzstan. It lies at an altitude of 3016 meters. The Kyrgyz have historically been semi-nomadic herders, living in round tents called yurts and tending sheep, horses and yaks. This nomadic tradition continues to function seasonally around the lake, as herding families return to the high mountain pasture in the summer.

The beautiful turquoise glacier lake of Ala Kul, in the Tian Shan mountains in Kyrgyzstan. Situated at about 3500m, it's the highlight of the trek and an ideal place to take in the view after a tough climb.
