The Thamarassery-Lakkidi Ghat road, part of the National Highway [NH 212], which connects the region of Kerala south of Kozhikode district with Wayanad district. This scenic road is very well maintained and the view of the hills is a joy to behold.

Had been on a trip to Kuttiady, a town in the Kozhikode district of Kerala, India. The place is known for the Kuttiady Hydro Electric Project situated along the banks of the Kuttiady River. This was clicked at the Kakkayam Dam reservoir, a part of the project. Kakkayam is on the outskirts of the Western Ghats and the Malabar Wildlife Sanctuary. Kakkayam has an abundant wildlife population and is also a trekking and rock climbing destination. Even though we reached before the place opened, the light was harsh, but the weather was suitably pleasant.
"The woods were made for the hunters of dreams,
The brooks for the fishers of song;
To the hunters who hunt for the gunless game
The streams and the woods belong."
~ Sam Walter Foss

Clicked at the Thonikadavu Tourism Project area situated close to Kariyathumpara, on the way to the Kakkayam Dam in Kozhikode district, Kerala. While many nations are failing to meet their Paris Agreement climate pledges, with 95% missing the February 2025 deadline for new 2035 targets and major emitters backtracking; India is on track to meet or exceed several key targets, including achieving 50% non-fossil fuel capacity years ahead of the 2030 deadline. India has always had a deep respect for nature. As the Atharva Veda says, "The Earth is our mother and we are her children."

“Kettuvallam is a houseboat widely used in the Indian state of Kerala. These have thatched roof covers over wooden hulls. The traditional kettuvallam is mainly used for promoting Kerala tourism.
The history of such boats in Kerala goes back to Uru, a large Dhow-type wooden ship made by the carpenters in Beypore, south of Kozhikode port. The teak was taken from Nilambur teak forests in earlier times, but now imported Malaysian teak is used.
Boats in a variety of shapes and sizes have traditionally been the main means of transport of men and materials in the Kerala backwaters since olden days. For the royalty these boats even became comfortable living quarters.”

Janaki Forest or Janakikad is a beautiful little 131 hectare land that once belonged to V. K Janaki Amma, who was the renowned statesman V. K. Krishna Menon’s sister. It comes under the Kuttiyadi range of Kozhikode district forest division. A great spot for bird watching and butterfly tracking. The water you see is the Chavaramuzhi River, a tributary of Kuttiyadi which goes through Janakikad.
