Bei diesem Bild handelt es sich um das vierte einer kleinen Serie älterer Bilder aus dem Jahr 2017 aus Polen, welche noch in meinem Archiv schlummerten. Um die Ausbeute-ärmere Zeit etwas zu überbrücken, habe ich wie die letzten Jahre zuvor auch schon ein paar Bilder überarbeitet und nochmal durch Photoshop gejagt. Teilweise habe ich die Motive schon mit anderen Lokomotiven und/oder Zuggarnituren gezeigt, aber es sind auch neue Fotostellen, andere Blickwinkel und neue Lokbaureihen dabei. Die Bilder sind allesamt im Rahmen eines zweiwöchigen Urlaubes im Nachbarland im Herbst vor drei Jahren entstanden. Ich hatte damals richtig Glück mit dem Wetter. Ich habe vor dem Urlaub nicht damit gerechnet im Oktober so viele Sonnenbilder machen zu können. Es war teilweise sogar richtig warm und man könnte ohne Winterklamotten in der Sonne auf den nächsten Zug warten...
Wobei es am 13. Oktober 2017 sehr windig gewesen ist und der eigentlich wolkenlos vorhergesagte Himmel mit sehr vielen dicken Quellwolken bzw. einigen Wolkenbändern aufwarten konnte. Nachdem der Tag auf der Innenseite der Fotokurve bei Gąsiorki noch bei schönstem Sonnenschein begonnen hatte, zogen von der Küste gegen Vormittag die ersten Störungen am Himmel rein und so war wieder eine Runde Wolkenlotto angesagt. Nach einem kurzen Besuch der Geraden vor dem Bahnhof von Pelplin, um die Zeit zu überbrücken wo die Sonne an der obigen Fotostelle in der Gleisachse stand, ging es nach dem Mittag wieder zurück an die Fotokurve. Diesmal aber an die Außenseite. Im Nachhinein gesehen hatte ich dort richtig Glück, denn eigentlich fuhren alle interessanten Züge in Sonnenspotts am erfreuten Fotografen vorbei. So auch die für LOTOS fahrende 181 144-7 mit einem bunten Containerzug am Zughaken, der wohl im Hafen von Danzig gestartet war und sich auf dem Weg gen Süden befand. Nachdem auch an dieser Stelle die Sonne soweit gewandert war, dass die Lokfront keine Sonne mehr abbekam, wechselte ich noch für das letzte Licht des Tages an die Gerade vor der Fotokurve. Von der folgt dann die nächsten Tage ebenfalls noch ein Foto....

The 406R family of tanker wagons has been the predominant type of tanker carriages on the Polish railways since the 1960s onwards, until the large influx of modern wagons from abroad in the 1990s. In recent years, it's really hard to spot them.
An interesting fact is, that some terminals were built specifically to handle the length of those wagons exactly, and trains heading to them have to be entirely formed with the now archaic type of carriage. On such terminal is the crude oil loading point near Barnówko.
This train was heading a rake of 35 such empties from the Orlen fuel refinery as TMS 584003 Gdańsk Olszynka - Gorzów Wielkopolski Towarowy GT (and later Barnówko). Those trains, along with loaded tanker trains to Kostrzyn (also ran by Orlen Kolej), are nowadays the only source of regular traffic on this part of the old Ostbahn. The trains usually run at night and with a more modern loco, this one was an exception - with a modernised M62-282 and in pleasant afternoon light. The picture presents it minutes after entering the Ostbahn line on the Suchostrzygi junction. It has just passed the passenger stop Rokitki Tczewskie and is heading towards Starogard Gdański.

Sodai -ER20 024 leads a fairly short mixed freight eastbound towards Radviliškis formed of a few boxcars, box wagons and mainly grain wagons.

Goederenvervoerder Lotos Kolej is onderdeel van Grupa Lotos, een grote Poolse onderneming die actief is in de olieindustrie. Het bedrijf is in 1971 opgericht en opereert vanuit de in het noorden van Polen gelegen havenstad Gdańsk. Het exploiteert tevens een aantal olieraffinaderijen en bezit ruim 500 tankstations in Polen.
Op het spoor kennen we Lotos buiten Polen vooral van het rijden van ketelwagentreinen tussen Polen en Castrop-Rauxel en tussen Polen en Bad Bentheim. De afgelopen jaren werkte Lotos vooral samen met RRF, die in Bad Bentheim de treinen van Lotos overnam. Sinds de dienstregelingwijziging in december 2019 heeft Rail Force One deze vervoersstroom van RRF overgenomen, waardoor de erg fraaie locomotieven serie 4400 van RRF een stuk minder vaak op de Bentheimer-route zijn aan te treffen.
Lotos rijdt in Duitsland de treinen hoofdzakelijk met 186'ers zonder logo, waardoor deze treinen niet heel erg fotogeniek zijn. Op 22 april 2020 werd de van een Lotos-logo voorziene 186 273 ingezet voor het rijden van een beladen biodieseltrein uit Lutherstadt Wittenberg naar Bad Bentheim. De trein kon worden bij Hummeldorf, tussen Rheine en Salzbergen. RRF nam de trein in Bad Bentheim over naar een onbekende bestemming in de Rotterdamse haven.
Whilst in the area of Å tore, Slovenia I thought a quick photo of a passing train by the steelworks might be nice. I was in luck and saw Sz Taurus 541-105 with a rake of rail cargo Hungary empty gondolas.
