Whitetail Deer fawns, Brown County, Wisconsin USA

Too bad this image was not composed better. I cropped it in a bit to make it somewhat work.

The young one to the rear was trying to sniff me out over the head of the sibling. These creatures, especially when they are young, seem to prioritize what their nose tells them over that of their eyes. Apparently my honest face and non-threatening scent is an asset in the bubble of my wildlife photography. Mosquitos on the face of the fawn in front.

were just having a blast creating havoc in the middle of the river. The little dude on the left was the one inciting most of the action, LOL. He's also the same cub that was harassing mama bear in my previous post. This is similar to a pic I posted a while back. Got a ton of them playing. So fun to watch. Hope you don't get bored with grizzly bear pics. I know I never could. But maybe I'm weird, who knows, LOL!

Back in the day a few folk would refer to a area and give it a name. The names change every generation I reckon, but this is Knucklehead beach.

Both of this doe's fawns are "boys". Look closely and you can see the exasperation on her face. It's not easy raising young boys.

This doe driven to distraction by her two knucklehead boy fawns. In their defense, the squirrels were hauling off with acorns.

Scan from negative. Came across this negative in searching my family's vast ANALOG archive for some family photos for a memorial service.

This image from 2004 (I believe) and one of my favorites of my three sons. This, one of a handful from that time that inspired me to pursue photography as a hobby. This capture made with a Canon 35mm point-and-shoot (sure shot). Unbelievably, this frame a one-off on the roll. Purchased my first DSLR in 2006 - a Canon 20D.

Roger's Gardens has so many varieties of pumpkins, gourds, and squashes with names like Autumn Wings, White Cloud, Flying Saucers, Cinderella, Knuckleheads, Goosebumps, Cotton Candy, Red Warty Thing, Creepy Heirloom, Wolf & Flap Jacks, Sorcerer, Bat Wings, Progress, Mr. Wrinkles, Tiny Turks, Jarrahdale, Small World of Color and One Too Many are just a few of the many wonderful names.

This classically beautiful 2005 Harley is usually sitting outside on the sidewalk by this Sunset Strip men's clothing store. The name of the store is "Sand".

This is a 1946 Harley Knucklehead Motorcycle that was on display at the Cars and Coffee Car Show held at the KC Auto Museum in Olathe Kansas. The backdrop is a shot I took in downtown Van Buren Arkansas at an old Budweiser store the insignia is at the top of the building not pictured here.

*** Boring Question Alert ***

To my utter shame, I still haven't sorted out any sort of backup process for my raw files, even after "losing" all my 2018 and 2019 raws. I've managed to ignore this up until now, but I've reached the point where I've nearly run out of space on my 1 TB laptop :-(

If you have some sort of backup process, and can be bothered, please can you tell me what you use? I'm kind of thinking I might need to bite the bullet and invest in a NAS drive (Synology). Hmmmm. 4 bay, 5 bay, 6 bay - overkill? Dunno, but I reckon I'm amassing about 1 TB of files per year. Also considered cloud storage, but Backblaze et al would be no good on their own (as I understand it), as I need the physical storage my side as well?

Any ideas would be welcome!

*** End of Boring Question ***

The Knuckle Stone on Carrhead Rocks soaks up the early morning light.

Taken on a recent camping trip with my knucklehead poker buddies. Years ago, we all worked for the same company. We have known one other for 30+ years. This year's trip was our first post-pandemic edition. We had a great time. We even hiked a little! =)

The hike from the park tote road past Tracy Pond, Elbow Pond, Daicey Pond and Grassy Pond is not difficult, and is one of my favorite easier hikes in the park. This was taken from the canoe put-in at the south end of Grassy Pond, looking toward the north end.

Thanks for visiting!

The knucklehead refers to a Harley-Davidson motorcycle engine, named for the distinct shape of the rocker boxes at the top of the cylinder heads. The engine is a two-cylinder, 45 degree, pushrod actuated overhead valve V-twin engine with two valves per cylinder, making about 40 horsepower at 4,800 rpm. It was the third basic type of V-Twin engine used by Harley-Davidson, replacing the Flathead-engined VL model in 1936. It was manufactured until 1947.

From what I can tell, the car is a reproduction of a Midget Dirt Track Racer. It's called the "Red Hauler Special" and is on display at the Contemporary Art Museum of St. Louis in an exhibition of work by the American artist Salvatore Scarpitta.

Heavenly...

Since all of our children are grown and have moved on, my wife and I decided to have another family. We would like to introduce all of our flickr friends to them. I am sure you all know Knucklehead as he has many pics on flickr.

We saw our friend Brandon Miller perform live at Knuckleheads Saloon in Kansas City Friday night. Brandon is an amazing singer, songwriter, and guitar player extraordinaire. We've been following Brandon and his band for 10 years and he never fails to put on an amazing show. Image captured with my Nikkormat FtN 35mm SLR with my Nikor-P f2.5, 105mm lens, on TMax 3200 exposed at 6400. Self-developed with Microphen straight, 68/20 for 14 minutes. If I remember correctly, the exposure setting for this shot was f5.6 at 1/30.

Scanned From A 35 mm B/W Negative.

Okay OKAY!!! I’m not brave enough to call him that to his face and said it under my breath and didn’t really want him upset with me. Another capture of my lumpy lizard friend doing a bit of sunbathing on the banks of Horsepen Bayou. In this scene the head is elevated which means he’s not pleased with me as I approach. No open mouth or hissing so he’s not completely ticked off at me, but he thought that I was violating HIS space. Hummmm!!! Imagine that. What a knucklehead. I’m betting that the top of that head is harder than any knuckle on anyone’s fist and you wouldn’t want to test that in person.
