I don't usually do street photography or take photos of people that I don't know, but looking through some old photographs I have found a few that I like, so I will post them over the next couple of days.

This one if from the Durham Miners Gala, probably in the late 1980s. It comes from a scanned negative. I couldn't resist the hand knitted outfits.

Merry Christmas to you all

Orb Weaver garden spider - the best there is! 2021 Weekly Alphabet Challenge group: Knitter

Today is World-wide knit in public day.

I can't knit, it's way too hard, but it would be criminal to pass up the opportunity to take a photo of a Lego Stormtrooper.

P.S. Hi Rachel, this is your fault :-)

Found this spiffy item at the local thrift shop today for 2 dollars.

It is the Ezee Knitter, patent number 2457064. I searched the US Patent site and found the number was issued in 1948!

This one came with the original manual!

The cramped conditions of a Victorian Framework Knitters workshop.

The workers worked a fourteen hour day in cramped noisy and dangerous conditions. Pay was so poor it led to the Luddite rebellion of 1811.

The movement began in Arnold (a suburb of Nottingham) a spread rapidly over the next two years.

The Luddites in Nottingham destroyed frames belonging to the 'Master Hosiers'

The Government of the day responded by sending in troops to protect the workshops and a Bill in parliament was proposed to make the breaking of frames punishable by death!

Almost fini! I started knitting socks in April from leftover bits from other knitted socks! I think I will make the Christmas deadline 😊

My "My Grandma's Rye Bread" DIY handknitted shawl, original pattern design by Marja Koskinen.

I nicknamed my newly finished shawl as "My Grandma's Rye Bread", not just because the yarn happens to be dark brown like rye breads, but also because my late maternal grandmother used to bake very delicious rye bread at her home, using a big oven which is warmed up by burning logs inside it. As a little child, I was very keen to take part to the bread baking, and I would love to bake rye bread now that I'm grown up but alas, I never got to ask the dough recipe from my Grandma! Well, some day I will try to learn the bread baking skill in one way or another for sure...

Funnily enough, the name of the shawl pattern I used here is "Mummuni", meaning "My Grandma"! So, in short, this is my homage to my late maternal grandmother and her wonderful homemade rye bread!

I knit 4 scarfs in last winter and sent them all to my friends.

2nd attempt at the lace back for Taline’s cardigan. If this one doesn’t work Idk what I’m going to do (except cry, lots and lots of angry tears.)

My girlfriend pointed out this nice scene to me in front of a museum in Seoul. She likes to find things I might like to take pictures of. She hit the nail on the head this time :)

My first time using the timer on the iPhone, woo! I like it because it helps get rid of the weird *looking at my phone* gaze.

A steampunk Knitter at Elham railway museum, craft center. I loved the colours and the quirkiness of this young lady.

I am fascinated by people who take up a "craft" Be it photography, painting, drawing, knitting , no matter what. People have so much talent and they should show their skills, and never hide it.

the pack piece is too wide, thanks to the super horizontal ease of the lace. Time to reknit and reduce the stitch count by 24 after the ribbing.

All is not lost, however, I bet Viktor would look marvelous in a yellow lace vest
