Coventry’s official Lady Godiva Pru Porretta MBE believes that Lady Godiva is as important a figure today as she has ever been. Pru is the only woman in Coventry’s history to have re-enacted the famous ride many times in the major Godiva procession, a tradition since 1678. Over the last 35 years, Pru has taken the role further to actively promote the City of Coventry with schools and built bridges with communities locally, nationally and internationally.

3 pairs of slippers and a fuzzy purse

This afternoon, we held our 3rd annual knit-a-thon to knit hats and scarves to benefit the women and children staying in the Domestic Violence Crisis Center shelters. The final drop-off is Friday, November 21st. There's lots of time and we've got lots of yarn (and needles and patterns)...please stop by pick up a kit.

Knit-a-thon participants chatted and had a great time. (Gromit in the background from "A Close Shave.")

Did you know the library has an instructional DVD on knitting? We do! And I projected it on our screen at the Annex during the Knit-a-thon.

(Wallace and Gromit's "A Close Shave" was also featured at the Knit-a-thon, since yarn and knitting is a focus of the short!)
