Our kitchen table is now bare as Georgina could not keep her furry little paws off my tchotchkies ... sigh.

Maybe one day when she has developed a few manners they will be allowed back :)

Buried deep in the Marrakesh Medina markets stock in this curious stall spills out onto the path of busy shoppers.

This type of bisque figure was popular at the end of the 19th century. Mass produced in Germany and Britain they are usually well made but not that popular in modern homes.

They usually came in pairs, The young lady would have had a equally elaborate beau.

I found these when my son insisted I go to a thrift/consignment shop.

I made this in High school. It is a piece of teak from the spoke of a ships tiller wheel that I cut at an angle. The cross is made of shavings from filing a bone and mixing the bone dust with epoxy then filling the cross shape I had carved out. After hardening, it was sanded and sanded and polished. I made the shelf it sits on also, but you can't really see that to well... : )

Salveeee

Knick Knack is an English equivalent of bric-à-brac. It means small decorative items in a house.

Tchotchke is yet another name, it comes from the Yiddish tshatshke of the same meaning, and ultimately from a now-obsolete Polish word, czaczko. Tchotchke is a pretty popular word these days, but it wasn't commonly used in English until the 1970s

quarter machine & penpals.
