I photographed these Persian kitten at the breeder‘s. They were eight weeks old and I finally bought the tabby one. It has flourished splendidly and will soon be four years old. Her name is Vanny!

Those pretty blue eyes of a Birman kitten

Meet my new kitty. He's keeping me company as i work from home. No, my dog has not made any moves to eat him, they seem to get along beautifully.

Last spring on my rural NC property, a feral cat abandoned her three babies when they were four months old, viciously chasing them away. I became their caretaker. They would hide in the bushes while I left food and wouldn’t begin eating until I was a few feet away. Gradually, they let me draw closer.

The female baby was the most traumatized and would sometimes cry and howl for her mother, then run through the woods looking for her. I named the little girl Cali.

This is a photo of Cali at six months old, still crying for mommy, as brother Mini watches over her. I tried to comfort her with soothing talk as I took the picture and then fed her a bowl of milk along with her favorite food.

A year has passed. I now feed the three youngsters on my front porch and recently they’ve begun letting me pet them. But they’re still wild animals and are afraid to enter my house.

Several weeks ago, Cali gave birth in the forest to four babies. A few days later she carried one in her mouth to place at my feet as an introduction. Within a month, she’d moved them onto my porch where there are plenty of places seek shelter.

Cali nurses her children in front of me and then sits with me on the steps as I pet her and the babies watch. It’s very clear she wants the babies to bond with me because she knows how I’ll treat them.

Cali is far more affectionate with the tiny kittens than her mother had been. She learned about kindness from being with me and is now passing it forward. I believe her children will continue the new tradition when the time comes.

She is in her cardboard house. Taken by Edgar.

The soft music from this violinist pierced the busy marketplace. It's nice to see today's young musicians getting interested and picking up classical instruments. It's refreshing from today's often overdone electric pop.

This little one roamed away from mom and its sibling.

Thanks so much for the visit!

From a cat show in Kaari, Helsinki

chat errant qui nous a visité avec ses petits

Took this a lotta years ago at the Wild Life Safari.. Had to stay in the car so the pictures weren't as good as I would have liked but happy to have had the opportunity to visit... Happy Fence Friday, Everybody!!!!!!

I brought this baby in from my basement where a feral cat brought him in along with his siblings I am guessing about a week before a blizzard we had here in New England. I would believe he is about 3 weeks old, maybe 4. He was not a bit happy about being photographed. lol He still has a bit of milk left on his face because I had just fed him :)

They are tucked in warm in a crate with a little box and have warm milk in their bellies. :) I will be rehoming them when they are big enough to eat on their own.

I hate the on camera flash just as much as anyone but until I get my camera to the shop to see if they know why my Speedlite is not communicating with my camera, this had to do for today. It is sharper than indoor light on a rainy day for sure ;-)
