The question remains open: is Kidult hates the recuperation of the graffiti practiced by its victims, is it is itself the instrument of buzz and of recuperation of one of the forms nevertheless the more extreme ones of vandalism graffiti: the tags to the fire extinguisher. One awaits your theories.. )
When filing this image on my computer, I debated on which category: Toy, Action Figure, or a new category for 1/12-scale Action Figures.
I decided to go with Toy, because these "Classified" series 6-inch figures are basically updates of the 1980s 3-3/4 inch "toy" figures popular with kids.
Today, "Joe" figs are marketed toward the "kidult" market -- adults who buy kid toys but are gullible enough to pay adult prices.
The 2026 price of this figure, $28, is the approximate equivalent of paying $9 for a figure back in 1984. The actual peg toy price for a Joe fig in 1984 was around $3 at the top end. So these modern figs cost three times as much as the "kids toy" version.
I hadda do some fussing around with my stupid camera phone to get this shot, and it still didn't work. Stupid Samsung recently pushed a stupid update that changed the way the stupid exposure compensation works on the stupid phone cam, making it harder to use, particularly when trying to manipulate the camera one-handed. Because of the extreme contrast in the way I light my images, easy-to-use exposure compensation is a must.
I might buy a new camera.
I know: buy buy buy, that's the easy solution.
My old point-n-shoot cameras are worn out. They don't focus like they should. I've done some online research. The imaging chips don't normally wear out, but the internal gearing gets worn, the lens alignment shifts, and deteriorating lubricants off-gas which gums up the works and clouds the optics. So I'm probably not imagining a diminishing image quality in my ten-plus year old pocket cameras.
There aren't a lot of pocket cameras out there anymore. Not like there used to be. But I think I found one that will work for me, functionally and ergonomically.
I want a camera. One that I can carry with me like I used to. One that I can operate one-handed or mostly one-handed. One that offers easily accessible aperture control for depth of field and exposure compensation for lighting effects.
Phone cameras don't offer those features.
And I want a camera that takes pictures and puts them on a digital chip, not a phone camera that "interprets" the image and automatically "improves" it and "optimizes it" for small screen display.
So I'm probably gonna order a new camera online. It will arrive. I'll look it over, try it out, be disappointed, and send it back.
And probably give up on this stupid A Doll A Day Project again.
Do 6-inch action figures count as "dolls" when I don't even count them as "action figures" but as "toys?"
