I have just returned from a superb holiday which started off like many by touching down at a major airport.
This is the first photo I took on the trip. It is an uninspiring, smoggy, congested scene that was taken from a moving vehicle and doesn't really shout "Holiday Destination". There are a couple of nominal clues, but does anyone have any idea where this was taken.

Numerous documentaries feature wildebeest crossing rivers, with many being eaten by crocodiles or drowning in the attempt.
While having the appearance of a frenzy, recent research has shown a herd of wildebeest possesses what is known as a "swarm intelligence", whereby the animals systematically explore and overcome the obstacle as one.

The Kenya sparrow, also known as the Kenya rufous sparrow (Passer rufocinctus) is a sparrow found in Kenya and Tanzania. It tends to be found in dry wooded savannah and agricultural areas.
This is a common seed eater in Kenya highland farms, orchards, savanna and urban settings. They often forage on the soil for seeds as well as scraps of food dropped by people. Insects form a major part of the diet, particularly during nesting. Although there are many kinds of small brownish birds this one can be reasonably recognized by the rufous and gray head, the black throat patch, and the pale eyes. The female lacks extensive rufous (reddish brown) colour in the plumage, but retains the pale eyes.
