……We have lots of postcards from around this period - posted DAILY little snippets of chit chat, in this case between two young ladies, much like Text’s & WhatsApp’s etc done today! The only difference is the Postman doesn’t get to know your juicy correspondence!! In fact they sometimes wrote upside down to the address so he couldn’t readily read the writing😊. You could buy a whopping 480 ‘Half Pence’ stamps for £1 back then - today they are 85p EACH so you can’t even buy TWO for £1!!!!!! My Macro Monday’s theme shot for ‘Stamp’ featuring not only ‘Stamps’ but with the franking date ‘Stamps’ on them too. HMM, (see 1st comment box for what was on one of the postcards) Alan:-)…….
For the interested I’m growing my Shutterstock catalogue regularly here, now sold 105 images :- www.shutterstock.com/g/Alan+Foster?rid=223484589&utm_...

This little box of tricks is a VOIP phone that I got from the generosity of my friend Keith in Spain a good while ago. I got it with a view to calling Laura in Finland at an affordable rate, but just as I got it Google launched their fabulous Google Talk service, which offers pretty much trouble free voice communications in superb quality. The down side is that both callers need to be sat at a computer with headsets on. For a pair of geeky net hounds like us that really isn't a problem, so the phone sat on the shelf for a while.
The 'rub' of course is that lots of people don't want to sit at a computer to make their phonecalls (or aren't tech savvy or tech confident enough to do it). This is where VOIP comes in.
I've signed up to the service that Keith recommended to me, and all seems well so far!
This means that for an eight quid a month subscription we can use what looks and feels like an ordinary phone to call Finland for about 2p a minute.
What's REALLY clever though, is that the service provides incoming European numbers. This means that Laura can give a Helsinki number to her family and friends, so for them it's just like making a local call, but it actually connects to a phone in Liverpool. That has to be the cheapest and easiest way to keep in touch. The only question mark now is over call quality and reliability, but I'll keep you posted on that.
Sunday morning walk around Austin, TX. I focussed on the black lives matter, rising coronavirus, and the street art of the moment.

I beg your forgiveness, but I do really enjoy writing a letter to you rather than "keeping in touch through Facebook or twitter or Flickrmail (?!)". You see, here we are in a place that belongs to someone else. Someone I don't particularly like or trust. A letter is between you and I. Person to person. Write me if you wish : PO BOX N, NY NY 10034. Don't forget your return address on the envelope. I always reply.
This cake was made for a leaving party. The recipient is moving to London and is a big Twitter user so his friends thought this would be an appropriate theme for the cake.
His Twitter name is @strutcakes and I threw in the #keepintouch for good measure.

Do you sell a monthly membership? If not, you might want to consider it.
Here’s 3 reasons to start a membership site:
1. Monthly memberships mean residual income. You sell a membership once and you get paid for it month after month until the customer cancels.
2. Selling a membership generally isn’t any harder than selling a one-time product, yet you can get paid a whole lot more for the same effort.
3. If you offer a trial membership, it’s even easier to get new subscribers. In fact, it can be easier than selling a regular one time product. Yet you can make a LOT more, as this case study will show.
Michael Hyatt has a membership site called Platform University. Twice a year he opens the site up for enrollment. Of course, you can take new enrollees into
