there were other icicle formations that were very discolored and it seemed as if the dead trees leached out nutrients or decomposed wood in the water runoff that created the ice, much like the icicle second from left and sometimes quite a bit darker
i found this a little while ago in a mall parking lot. one of those things where you walk by, stop, pause, turn around and go back, even if it makes you late.
