This is our Congo African Grey, Kato. He is a longtime rescue resident at our house. When we got him years ago, he had so much anxiety that he had plucked all his feathers out. Feather plucking is a hard habit to break. We have been working with him for years, and still, we will come into our bird room and find he has done damage again, but for now, he has done really well for a LONG time! We are so proud of him!
With a somewhat purposeful stride Mark is seen somewhere between Magaro in Macedonia and Kato in Albania. He is quite possibly over the border in Albania at this time.
Back in 2012 Albania was still near enough a closed state and when Mark and I had climbed Magaro a prominent peak in the then named country of FYROM, (now named North Macedonia) we chose to extend our hike by nipping over the border and climbing the nearby Albanian mountain, Kato. This was a tad risky given the fact that at this time the border was sometimes patrolled by the military. Mark wasn't too keen on this detour so he made speedy progress out and back.
As can her seen Mark has a habit of travelling light when the weather permits.
A little proud of this set, I managed to rig a Bento claw, and box model a samaurai face! KATO SET: coming to LOOTBOX very soon!

I have uploaded a small number of pictures from this trip before, but this is the first image of me on an Albanian summit. Mark and I had climbed the nearby summit of Margaro, a mountain that forms the high point of a range that separates Northern Macedonia from their long term foe and neighbour, Albania. In fact just a few years prior to our trip these mountains saw regular fighting. To put this into context whilst on the summit of Magara we sat in a trench and ate out lunch. Needless to say we didn't touch any of the rusting objects that a lay nearby.
Things had calmed down by the time of our visit and the border guards that used to patrol these hills had seemingly descended to the cities to take on alternative duties. Needless to say with Marago (the Macedonian mountain) being just a few miles from the summit of Kato in Albania we sneaked across the border and made our way to the rather exotic summit. As can be seen the trig point is adorned with some form of cyrillic script. Please see the comments below from xi.xu, "it's not Cyrillic, it's really Rpssh = Republika Popullore Socialiste e Shqipërisë. The last word is the Albanian name for Albaniens"
Not wanting to be caught on the wrong side off the border and knowing that we either had a twenty five mile return hike to Ohrid or had to somehow hitch a lift from the nearest road we knew that we would be short of time. For these reasons we didn't hang around for too long.
