Somewhere in the state of Karnataka on our drive from Pune to Goa.Since the main highway from Belgaum in Karnataka to Panjim in Goa was closed due to some reason we were diverted through a wildlife santuary.The road (approx.40 kms) was very bad in patches but really beautiful.Shot taken without a stand in very low light so my hand has shaken a bit.
I will be a little busy over the next few days and will be mostly absent from Flickr.Will try and look in sometimes.See you soon dear friends.Take care stay safe.
Fighting with another aggressive drongo, the Greater Racket Tailed Drongo can be a frustrating and daunting experience for many birds. But not for this metallic looking aggressive fearless bird.
The Bronzed Drongo is an uncommon Drongo found in several regions of India. It has a rich metallic blue glossy plumage that stands out well in bright light. They are about 22-24 cms including the well forked tail. The birds are quite territorial and quite unafraid of chasing bigger birds like the Goshawks, Eagles and other raptors when they come around.

Vijayanagar ( City of Victory) was the capital city of the historic Vijayanagara Empire. Located on the banks of the Tungabhadra River, it spread over a large area and included the modern era Group of Monuments at Hampi site in Vijayanagara district, Bellary district and others in and around these districts in Karnataka, India.
The Vijaynagar empire was established in 1336 by the brothers Harihara I and Bukka Raya I of the Sangama dynasty, and rose to prominence as a culmination of attempts by the southern powers to ward off Perso-Turkic Islamic invasions by the end of the 13th century. At its peak, it subjugated almost all of South India's ruling families and pushed the sultans of the Deccan. It lasted until 1646, although its power declined after a major military defeat in the Battle of Talikota in 1565 by the combined armies of the Deccan sultanates.
The chariot photographed above is actually a shrine dedicated to Garuda, built inside the Vittala Temple Complex. The massive sculpture of Garuda, Lord Vishnu’s escort once was seated atop the chariot but it is empty at the present date. The Hampi Chariot has earned its name among the other three famous stone chariots in India- One in Konark, Odissa, and the other in Mahabalipuram (Tamil Nadu).
Stray cow begging for food along the beach. Some will feed them or even brought some food particularly for them. Otherwise, the cow feed of the the food left washed ashore from the devotees of Lord Shiva's rituals. They are very gentle and once have I seen them chasing anyone during my whole month there. It was just beautiful to watch them.
This picture was taken along one of the many beaches of the coast of Karnataka. Lots of dogs and cow. Some are wild too.

Crocodiles rely on basking to regulate their body temperature because they are ectothermic (cold-blooded) and cannot generate internal body heat. They bask in the sun to warm up for active functions like hunting and digestion, and use shade or water to cool down when they overheat
Hampi is an ancient village in the south Indian state of Karnataka. It’s dotted with numerous ruined temple complexes from the Vijayanagara Empire. On the south bank of the River Tungabhadra is the 7th-century Hindu Virupaksha Temple
During one of my recent treking to kudremukh in december, found this interesting tall dry red fountain grass which seemed to be welcoming as the red carpet
