BN Train 190 roars through Kandyohi, MInn. behind A-B-A Fs on Jan. 28, 1978, running behind Amtrak's Empire Builder. You didn't see F's very often between Minneapolis and Willmar - west of Willmar you would see them on trains to Grand Forks, but not often east of there, so this was a lucky catch. BN F7A 714 was built as SP&S 803.
Having just received clearance into Willmar Yard for a mainline crew change, westbound coal empty E ALMBTM eases past the old Cenex grain elevators in Kandiyohi, MN on BNSF's Wayzata Subdivision. SD70MACe #9717 is a welcomed sight today as MAC rebuilds are few and far between, with merely 23 units delivered from Progress Rail during the ill-fated overhaul program.

This is a portrait of me and Kandi Robbins taken by Cassandra Storm at the 2022 Keystone Conference.
It's a good photo and that in itself would be reason enough to post it here.
However it's being shared to also brag about my friend beautiful Kandi Robbins.
We met a few years ago. At the time she was a part-time MtF cross dresser.
Today, she's nearly full-time Kandi. As Kandi, she's gotten parts in 8 professional films and has also been featured in six published magazine photo shoots including two detailed interviews.
She's walked runways in the New York Fashion week, and has modeled everything from bridal gowns to casual wear.
Her path is not for everyone. Yet I admire her for tenacity, work ethic, compassion, focus, and humor.

I really liked this photo taken by Kandi Robbins with my cel phone. Sometimes when the camera focuses on the background and not on the subject, the subject (me) appears to look younger and with a very smooth skin :)
While Nora Simone was taking photos with her professional camera, Kandi was taking random pics with my phone, many of which turned out very nice. Up until now, I have feared that if I did not smile, my expression will look harsh and very masculine. However, it seems that if I am relaxed, as I often am as Cristy and, with the proper makeup, I can manage.
You will notice that most of the photos I have been posting, have a more artistic flavor, as I was lucky to have very good photographers taking my photos. Given that Flickr is a photo-sharing place, I think it is only fit that one focuses a bit more on the artistic side of photography that, in our cases, comprises so much more than just on what the subject is wearing or showing. Thank you Nora, Kim and Kandi for taking the time to help me preserve amazing moments and memories!

Me gustó mucho esta foto que tomó Kandi Robbins con mi teléfono. A veces, cuando la cámara enfoca el fondo y no al objetivo, el objetivo (yo) aparenta ser más joven y con piel más delicada :)
En lo que Nora Simone me usaba como su modelo para tomar fotos con su cámara profesional, Kandi Robbins tomaba momentos infraganti con mi celular. Muchas de estas fotos salieron muy interesantes. Hasta ahora, siempre sonreía para mis fotos porque sentía que si no lo hacía, mi expresión sería muy dura y parecería más masculina. Sin embargo, parece que cuando estoy relajada, como suelo estar como Cristy y, con el maquillaje adecuado, no salgo tan mal.
Notarán que la mayoría de fotos que he estado subiendo, tienen un sentido más artístico, ya que tuve la fortuna de tener fotógrafas muy talentosas tomando mis fotos. Ya que Flickr es un sitio para compartir fotos, creo que vale la pena acentuar el lado artístico de la fotografía que, en nuestro caso, va más allá de lo que una lleva puesto o lo que muestra. ¡Gracias Nora, Kim y Kandi por tomarse el tiempo de ayudarme a preservar estos momentos tan lindos e inolvidables!

Anyone who knows Kandi probably can not imagine her camera shy nor without her signature big smile.
From my experience, her smile is genuine. She has a lot to grin about and be proud of. This composite image shows one example.

Now that she’s been a model who just walked in the New York Fashion Show, featured in a mainstream bridal magazine, and included as an actor in shows you see streaming on TV, is “Too Much Kandi?” a relevant question?

In the photo of us (right side), I appear to be swooning over Kandi. That may well be. But it could also be that I’m overcome with the scent of those cut flowers pinned to my hair. Not kidding!
I love witnessing friends pursuing their dreams, but watching Kandi is becoming nearly a full-time job. Wow!
