while searching in the territory of the famous black panther of Kabini we heard a series of alarm calls of barking deer so we knew there was a predator in the area.

The visibility is not great in Nagarhole Tiger Reserve because of the dense undergrowth so you have to wait for predators to come into an open area.

The second vehicle in the area left after about 15 minutes and a few minutes later this young female leopard came out of the undergrowth and walked parallel to us for a while.

around sunrise we spotted a small breeding herd of Asian Elephants and we stopped at a proper distance..

While crossing the forest road this mother was nearly side stepping to shield her calf and this is the only image where you can more or less see the calf.

Indian Leopard

Leopard in deep slumber at Kabini forest.

The moment the male cub decided to walk into the spotlight....

This aged big cat, resting on an abandoned forest temple, nonchalantly gazing at a van-load of noisy tourists at Kabini - a south Indian jungle that is fast attaining legendary status worldwide, for its superb wildlife congregations, including regular sightings of Tiger, Leopard and Dhole. Unfortunately, with fame, comes more than a van full of tourists - the bane of popular parks around the world!
