I'm really fond of the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. In my humble opinion, he made some of the nicest designs lately. Okay, all his projects are exorbitant expensive. But when I got aware that he finished the train station in the small town of Mons, I needed to see it for myself.

And I liked it! I hope you do too....

I'm a collector of junk that may one day be used for a photograph.

A collection of filing cabinet keys for filing cabinets who knows where. I knew I'd find a use for them eventually.

HMM!

"Junk Food Junkie" by Larry Groce

Oh, but folks lately I have been spotted

With a Big Mac on my breath

Stumbling into a Colonel Sanders

With a face as white as death

I'm afraid someday they'll find me

Just stretched out on my bed

With a handful of Pringles Potato Chips

And a Ding Dong by my head

In the daytime I'm Mr. Natural

Just as healthy as I can be

But at night I'm a junk food junkie

Good lord have pity on me

Vang-Vieng, the lost paradise

Vang-Vieng (Laos) - Photo taken a good 15 minutes walk from the city center.

This city, now populated by 20,000 inhabitants, was considered until the mid-1990s as one of the paradises of earth. Unfortunately, I did not stay there on my first trip in the 1990s.

From earthly paradise, Vang-Vieng has turned into hell in less than two years, under the onslaught of Chinese and Vietnamese investors, attracted by a dream setting around the Nam-Song river, surrounded by majestic limestone mountains dotted with caves more or less sacred.

Mass tourism swept over this pretty valley overnight, which for several years had attracted junkies around the world. As a result, this place has become infrequent with a high crime rate.

Vang-Vieng was quickly renamed "the cancer of tourism" in the early 2000s. But in 2012, after having profited greatly from corruption, the Laotian government was forced to put an end to this debauchery, which was hardly compatible with the image he wanted to give of the country.

Today, the region has once again become more peaceful and secure. It is still a hotspot for tourism with its backlashing quads, disturbing the tranquility of the surrounding countryside. But it is possible to practice more environmentally friendly tourism by exploring the region on foot or by bicycle.

Often there are many forgotten or overlooked places in Singapore that many are not aware or do not know of.

One such place, the Junkie's Corner near the Bukit Timah Grandstand, has an environment with surroundings that feels more like neighbouring Malaysia rather than Singapore and seemingly frozen in time.

2136

G-AVYB is taxiing to Riem’s runway 25 for take-off. This Trident was noted here with Channel Airways several times in 1970 (15 February, 20 June, 14 July), and later with Northeast Airlines (25 March 1972, 18 August 1972) and British Airways (initially in basic Northeast colours, January 1975).

Information from flickr - thanks to heathrow junkie:

G-AVYB c/n 2136 - Trident 1E - delivered new to Channel Airways in March 1968, after just a couple of years the aircraft went to Northeast Airlines in November 1970. Incorporated into the British Airways fleet six years later, the aircraft flew with BA for just four more years, before being withdrawn in August 1980. Sadly, 'YB ended up being broken up in the BA maintenance area at London Heathrow in May 1981.

I love all my Brazilian contacts..but I just may stay in Oregon now...lol! The sky literally changed from Ho-hum..not that exciting to this!! What a sight! Yes.. the clover fields again but all I see is the sky. :-)

I know I usually do B&W today..but when I have THIS..I HAVE to post..lol...

Thanks for all the humor under the "dog doo" post..It was quite hilarious & I enjoyed reading all the comments! ...Great Friday & you all have a Safe Memorial Day weekend..those of you in the US!..:-)

Adrenalin junkies fret hormones from the peripheral morons

Is this soccer?

Tickle me. I don't know.

But I do know that these boys are not so crazy about some Michael Owen or

some David Beckham. I DO know that that there is no fanfare of spectators...

Nor is this any carpet grassed Million Dollar stadium, nor is anybody wearing

any crude designer jerseys.

Why, then? You may ask, is this game any more special than the other.

The answer lies in the mind.

It is a powerful, mind intoxicating game that requires total commitment from

the brain and the body.

The brain pumps hormones to fire-up vital organs such as the

heart, lungs and kidneys which team-up with the physical body to become one

powerful machine capable of cutting through rays of light.

It is the right game for the right situation.

The only game perhaps, these boys can count on, for some enthusiasm,

in a life of misery.

1. 130 of the Worlds most powerful leaders meet in New York, USA.

The distinguished people play a game of deceit, shrewdness and

procrastination which is coherent with some political agenda.

2. A bunch of young, homeless boys meet at the local playground.

The boys play a high-caliber game that tells them to live it up!

Forget the misery - Fuck everything else.

Both are games. Both are real.

FACT: Nine months on after the deadly tsunami in Asia, little is being done

to help ease the inconveniences of the deprived. Entire island communities

have been relocated and housed in cardboard sheds, (background in the pic.)

with few or no Amenities.

Sad.

"Speed Junkies" was a sailing group with the purpose to sail as fast as possible in the same environment.

Group has 25 cruises which were further modified by direction of wind.

As a reminder of these times I have started to sail one cruise after another.

If I remember it right, ladies were finishing whole race in about 40 mins with the difference of a few seconds amongst them.

My yesterday's try resulted in 52 mins, but I hadnt done any preparation and I havent been using racers much recently.

I Managed to get a shop, Yay :)

On the First floor you find all non Cardboard.

On the second floor are all the cardboard items for Cardy & Cardo and also a lot of gifts :)

You can visit it here.

There were nearly fifty monkeys near the garbage bins picking out all the cans. They would subsequently, tear the can in half by biting threw the tin and dip their fingers into the cola syrup. It was amazing to watch.
