It's not a great photo, but it was the first time we've seen this owlet.
The photo was taken before sunrise, while we waited to enter Jim Corbett National Park.
It was very dark and we saw her perched on top of a branch. At first, we didn't realize what it was. Only when she moved did we realize it was an owlet.
It was the only time we saw this species.

The jungle babbler (Argya striata) is a member of the family Leiothrichidae found in the Indian subcontinent.
This familiar ash-brown colored babbler has a yellow bill and a dark brow in front of the eye that contrasts with its pale eye giving it a perpetual “angry” look. It has vague streaking on the upperparts, diffuse mottling on its throat, and barring on its tail.

Late evening scene at a restaurant in a jungle lodge in India. I was at a jungle lodge in a national tiger reserve in Karnataka (India) on the weekend, primarily to try my luck at spotting wildlife. However, this restaurant there, lit up after the onset of night looked so beautiful on the backdrop of the late evening sky that I could not resist clicking this photograph.
I have seen sunflower fields many times - but rarely such a jungle. The perspective was really interesting - it felt like going downhill and then up a slope. This was already in the shade and the foreground was illuminated by the sun - the whole thing with a 200 mm focal length and a blurred foreground ... that's it ...
Bayerischer Sonnenblumen-Dschungel
Like most Babblers this one is non-migratory and its habitat is forest and cultivation. The bird is often mistaken for the Yellow-billed Babblers found in peninsular India and Sri Lanka. They are found in flocks of seven to ten or more and are noisy birds. The presence of a flock may generally be known at some distance by the harsh mewing calls, continual chattering, squeaking and chirping produced by its members. They feed mainly on insects, but also occasionally eat grains, nectar and seeds.

Kaiser keeping an eye on Ray who, in Kaiser's mind, might attack from half way down our very long garden. Can never be too careful, can you Kaiser *sigh*.
We have a hosepipe ban in our county (Hampshire) from 5.00pm this evening. We haven't had any rain for a few weeks now and on top of that we have an incompetent water company who have consistently failed to invest in new reservoirs, mending leaks and generally taking care of our precious water. They were fined 90 million pounds in 2020 for dumping untreated sewage into the sea. Southern Water - that is you I'm talking about!
Oh dear - I think I've just had a Furry Friday rant

Nice weather today and all cats except Cleo were outside for most of the day. Sethi was on tour in the neighbourhood, Fynn collected all the dead mice which Sethi had dropped in the garden, Tofu sat under the pine tree and tried to hypnotized the birds in the feeder but Filou posed nicely for a photo (even though he looked as if he really had better things to do).
