Taken just before midnight at Trout Lake, Washington, I could barely see the light beams and hint of color with my eyes, but a 15 second shot on a tripod with the shutter wide open brought out the colors and light.

We really enjoyed our visit to this county park and would definitely go there again.

We spotted these farm remains near Lodi and I was instantly enamored with them. Beautiful!

In White Mound Couny Park. We hiked the 3 mile trail around the lake and really liked it. It’s in a valley surrounded by forested hills. Very scenic!

You can see the dense haze caused by forest fires smoke.

There were large patches of them in the fields of White Mound County Park.

The trail around the lake in White Mound County Park varied from being in the woods to going through fields. I especially loved this area with all of the daisies!

We took a short walk along this while waiting for the Cheeze Factory restaurant to open up.

Once it did, I got the Tijuana tortada, Mike got the sweet & savory bbq, and we brought home a slice of apple pie & linzer torte to share. As always, the food was delicious!

Quite the unique bench at White Mount County Park!

Sometimes I swore your mind was a trap door.

This ten foot sculpture looks over the Baraboo River along the riverwalk in Baraboo. The artist who created this is Dr. Evermor (Tom Every).

We took a day trip to this park and are very glad we did. It’s an awesome park!

While we didn’t visit Devil’s Lake State Park on this road trip, we’ve been there several times before. It’s definitely one of Wisconsin’s best parks!

I took this shot while on a walk and I like to capture how the light filters between the trees and leaves. This represents my world. Just cropped a little and increased the vibrance.

She has such a large voice for being such a tiny girl!

Mike sent this to me while I was at work & told me to turn the volume up. I did, and her sweet meow echoed through my office. Music to my ears!

The fog was thick on Lake Michigan and the seagulls were very active.

Richard has been my mentor in helping me navigate the new (old) world of film. He’s been shooting film since 2015 and his knowledge, encouragement and help has been very motivating. YouTube is good, but sharing with a person is so much more rewarding.

We met for coffee, a photo walk and lunch. Unfortunately the light was dull due to the smoke from the forest fire. Still, it was a great time.

A superb or “grand” display of noctilucent clouds on June 7-8, 2020 with the NLCs very bright to the northwest and north and early in the evening extending up at least 20° in altitude. This was about 11:20 pm MDT. The Sun was 10° below the horizon when I shot this.

The illumination dropped quickly after I shot this to reduce the NLCs to a bright band low across the horizon and then to disappear. The clouds exhibit a tremendous amount of fine structure and wave patterns. Capella, usually present in NLC images, is just right of centre.

This is a panorama of 12 segments, each with the 85mm Rokinon lens at f/2 and the Canon 6D MkII at ISO 100 and oriented vertically (portrait) for 1 second each. The size of the original panorama is 31,800 x 6100 pixels. Stitched with PTGui.

Lo! the sun upsprings behind,

Broad, red, radiant, half-reclin'd

On the level quivering line

Of the water crystalline;

And before that chasm of light,

As within a furnace bright,

Column, tower, and dome, and spire,

Shine like obelisks of fire,

Pointing with inconstant motion

From the altar of dark ocean

To the sapphire-tinted skies;

As the flames of sacrifice

From the marble shrines did rise,

As to pierce the dome of gold

Where Apollo spoke of old.

A superb or “grand” display of noctilucent clouds on June 7-8, 2020 with the NLCs very bright to the northwest and north early in the evening extending up at least 20° in altitude. However by the time I took this panorama at about 11:45pm MDT the display had diminished. The Sun was 12° below the horizon when I shot this. The location is what I call Solstice Pond near home where I often shoot auroras and NLCs, especially around summer solstice.

The clouds showed a tremendous amount of fine structure and wave patterns. Capella, usually present in NLC images, is right of centre at top.

This is a panorama of 10 segments, each with the 85mm Rokinon lens at f/2 and the Canon 6D MkII at ISO 200 and oriented horizontally for 1.6 seconds each. The size of the original panorama is 22,000 x 4200 pixels. Stitched with ACR.

In Kohler Andrae State Park along the marsh boardwalk. We love these vocal little birds!

This set is from June7, as Northern lights danced in the early morning sky while I danced around my camera in the silence of a mountain night... which is never really silent, but alive with the songs of the stars, the movement of nocturnal birds and animals. The sort of silence that refreshes my spirits even without the Aurora dancing overhead!

ahhh, a night when color filled the sky to the north of Mount Adams, in southern Washington. What a great night!

You will be seeing more of these, along with the ones I shot on June 1 in Snowden and Trout Lake..

June 7, 2013 about 1:00 am a lovely light show began to dance in the sky over the Pacific Northwest. This shot is part of a series taken up on Snowden above White Salmon, Washington on the hills above the Columbia River Gorge.

You will be seeing more of these, along with the ones I shot on June 1 in Trout Lake.
