Anxious soldiers, faces hard
Fear mingled with honour, duty
Hearts a million miles away
Eyes fixed, strong, resolute
Prepared for their greatest test
There can be but one victor
77 Years ago, many of our relatives stormed the beaches of Normandy, or flew over that bloody battle below them. Thousands more would come ashore to complete the action of that day. It was the beginning of the end for Hitler, and, though the path ahead was still fraught with pain, suffering, and loss, they fought on, as if the fate of the world depended on them, and, indeed, it did. Thank you, brave warriors, on this 77th anniversary of your sacrifice.
"You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hope and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other Fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world."
General Dwight D. Eisenhower

Spring is quickly falling into summer here with baby animals getting larger, the temps increasing, and all of the flora fully grown & starting to bloom. I love it!

We’ve had a tom coming around lately but haven’t seen hens for a while. Ivar was very excited to see these two ladies!
The weather this spring has been strange. We’ve barely had any rain and a little over a week ago the wind chill was in the 30’s. These past few days have been in the low 90’s. Today the wind switched and started to come off Lake Michigan, which cooled things down enough for us to be able to open up some windows.
Floki always looks so majestic with his fluff in the breeze. Hazel decided to make a guest appearance to liven things up a bit and to remind us that she’s just as glorious (we agree!).
The National day of Sweden. What can be better than Swedish strawberries on a day like this? :) Edit with my new texture.
Have a great new week!
Well, I love shooting the windmills. I am learning about stack focusing but not yet. Peter's comments on the other shots was very helpful and I hadn't thought of the term artifacts. I was steady and concentrated on deep focus even though it was very windy.
The 1,146-kilometer commemorative roadway marks the route of the Allied forces from the D-Day landings of Normandy, France to Bastogne, Belgium.
