. . . This was a no sailing kind of night! My only wish is that I would of thought to go fishing, I love using surface lures when it's warm and calm like this, drives the lunker bass crazy!

After a few days in Moscow it was on to Nizhny. This used to be a city which rivalled Moscow for power in Russia but in the many years since then has diverged a lot from the capital. It feels more rugged than the slick, well-maintained areas of central Moscow.
It was a six-hour train journey to get here, arriving mid-afternoon and stopping for a couple of nights. This was taken just after a torrential rain storm which lasted only a few minutes but was enough to cause me to duck into a nearby pizza cafe for some shelter. The big building on the left-hand side is the Nizhny Kremlin.
