Experimenting with monochrome JPEG settings. This shot is backlit (contre-jour). The rich contrast allows me to focus on the bin and its luminosity.
The park of Markyate Cell Estate, Hertfordshire. In this image, I have exposed mainly for the sky. The point of this series is to calibrate my camera for monochrome JPEGS. I am quite happy with what this 16MP camera can do. There is even enough room for creative editing.
Tried out JPEG shooting with a bit of editorial licence (Fujifilm's raw converter, Luminar, and macOS High Sierra photo editor).
The Old Malt House, Markyate, Hertfordshire. Before the coming of the railway, the village was an important stop for everybody travelling between London and the Midlands. There were hotels and dozens of pubs and brew houses (such as this one). What is left today are three pubs and their survival is not guaranteed.
