Last Friday started the 'Hamburger Dom', it is a large month-long funfair, which runs three times a year.
Measuring 46 feet across and spanning the length of the gallery’s wall, the monumental Joystick is an ode to Rosenquist’s love of flying. Based on reflections from a mirrored cylinder, packed with gyrating forms that move at incredible speed, the space of Joystick is invented, abstract, and wholly optical. “The priority for me is visual invention and, really, content is secondary,” Rosenquist told the late art historian Robert Rosenblum. By contrast, the central expanse of The Geometry of Fire is a reflection of real space. Painted after a devastating fire destroyed the artist’s Florida studio, the 25 foot long picture depicts the wildness of fire on the left and the destruction it causes, seen in the melting, exploding hub caps on the right. At the picture’s center is the mysterious cosmos, populated with the galaxies, star showers and black holes that became the subject of Rosenquist’s last paintings.

But the true star isn't Perry, it's Knobby, the free sound elf. Will Knobby, with a little help from his friends, finally defeat the evil Lord Tinnitus and the mean army of Deafentors and save Rockwarts? Spoiler alert: Lord Tinnitus has already won, but the Deafentors are beaten.
A slight panic set in when I read what today's theme would be. Since I had already shot my knob-related bolt for our B&W theme and I couldn't find the miniature sample perfume bottle with the beautiful knob-like cap that resembles a mushroom, I had to find some other knob. Fast. But Knobby heard the call and came to the rescue. When I switched on my Bluetooth headphones to browse YouTube and later stream a movie the other day, my gaze fell on the joystick knob on the headphone's right ear cup. This tiny thingy (diameter: 5mm/0,19 inches) is used for controlling volume (up/down) and for play/pause/previous/next (left/right). The cross with its grooved surface provides a good grip despite its tininess, and it's very convenient to use.
The headphones are of a nice blue colour, and to make the knob more interesting, I once again used my makeshift colour filters to add two more hues: red (scratched transparent chocolate box lid from the left) and green (small green glass bottle from the right). It's a single shot (high-res mode so I could crop in nicely), processed in LR and Color Efex.
HMM, Everyone!

This is the workshop window of Gallery Joystick overlooking the port of Seyðisfjörður. The owner is a colourful character with lots of interesting stories. He makes his living of his art which is all fabricated out of recycled things that have washed ashore or been discarded by the local industries. I've heard of verbal conflicts where people approach his gallery with cameras without paying the entry fee but our experience here was nothing but fun and friendly. He even helped me out taking some of the photos by supplying a mobile table since I broke my tripod (again) earlier during my trip. I highly recommend a visit!

Featured is a stick pin (stickpin) which is a piece of jewelry.
I found this killer composition in Goblin Valley of a 'stand out' goblin that appeared to have it's own staging area.
Unfortunately the sky in my original shot was complete rubbish so I thought I'd gratuitously paste in a different sky from a shot I made 3 years earlier in Canyonlands during a storm.
I much prefer the end result.
If you like this shot and have found yourself admiring shots from other photographers only to marvel at how lucky they are to be 'in the right place at the right time', chances are, 'those places' have no relationships to 'those times'.
As I've mentioned before, I have no beef with talented photogs making killer shots by compositing, but let's not pretend to be authentic by concocting BS stories about 'capturing the once in a lifetime moment' due to infinite patience and meticulous planning.
I resisted the urge to add a unicorn with lightening bolts shooting from it's horn;)

The joystick ball head got unscrewed and fell off my tripod some time ago. I didn't notice this until I got down the steep hill to Wolcott Falls so I had to try and balance my camera on the uneven stump of the tripod. So....this picture may be a bit fuzzy.
Later on I lay down on he ground and used the log you can see here for a better helper.

A joystick controller from my Atari 2600 games console.
To explain my thinking behind this: Modern games consoles have multi-buttoned control pads which have made the single button joystick controllers obsolete.

Well I received an Atari 2600 for Christmas, so I'm going to try and make it out of Legos, and I decided to start with the controller. I think it turned out really well.

At the 2012 CIVENEX, MacDonald Johnston had the three available joystick types on display for their SPORT GenV side loader. On the left is the standard joystick fitted to the new trucks, in the middle is the broomstick design and on the right is the palm top design. Of these newer versions, I’ve only really tried out the standard joystick with the four red buttons for long enough to say it’s awesome. I’ve used the broomstick on previous MJ side loaders and a rocker switch palm top on the Sidepaks, but not long enough to have a personal opinion on both. Looking forward to having a better go with all of them in the future!
