All the trails of the Joy Mountains were closed recently because of semi-lockdown here. I hope I could go there soon.
Today, 185 local COVID-19 cases, 15 deaths.
I haven't been here (Joy Mountains) since our semi lockdown from the middle of May. I'm glad I was here again. Faced this beauty, I thank God and pray.
Mount Hehuan is a 3,416-metre-high (11,207 ft) mountain in Central Taiwan. The peak lies on the borders of Nantou and Hualien counties and is located within Taroko National Park. Hehuanshan is a popular destination in central Taiwan. The 3,421-metre east peak and 3,422-metre north peak of Hehuanshan are both higher than the main peak.
Mount Hehuan is part of the Central Mountain Range.

Veronica persica (Persian speedwell, ‘Oo-inu-no-fuguri’ in Japanese) produces lovely sky-blue flowers here and there in the spring fields. It’s a joy of spring to find them on a walk.
Veronica persica is a winter annual plant native to Eurasia. It has been naturalized in Japan since the 19th century.

Snow, rare in the rest of Taiwan, is relatively common on Mount Hehuan during the winter months. Highway 14 leads to Wuling, a saddle between the main peak and the east peak of Hehuanshan. At 3,275-metre, Wuling is also the highest point of Taiwan accessible by highway. From Highway 14, a trail leads to the summit of the main peak. At the summit, there is a weather station.

The Schapendoes (also known as the Dutch Sheepdog) is a member of a wide-ranging group of long-haired herding dogs that have densely coated heads. At the turn of the 20th century the breed was well known in the Netherlands, being prized for his intelligence and the tireless pleasure that he took in his work. Following World War ll, the breed was resurrected from a few remaining individuals.
With great endurance, mobility and speed, his movement is springy and he is a remarkable jumper.
This is a true herding dog in character, body and soul. He is attentive, courageous, intelligent and watchful. He is extremely loyal and affectionate towards his family.

I had the opportunity to see and quickly interact with Joy, a competition 1 year old Schapendoes, today at my special dog food store. This little female who has already won two competitions is INTENSE. She is totally focussed on her mistress yet she is a pleasure to approach and cajole. A near future test for this girl will be to see if she is of sheep herding caliber.
