I was trying to create a 1970s faded look with those funky storefront colors and patterns.Hope it worked.

Interesting fact on Mulberry St in Little Italy.

Mulberry Bend, formed by Mulberry Street on the east and Orange Street on the west, was historically part of the core of the infamous Five Points;the southwest corner of Mulberry Bend formed part of the Five Points intersection for which the neighborhood was named. Aside from Mulberry, the other four streets forming Five Points were Anthony Street (now Worth Street),Cross Street (now Mosco Street),Orange Street (Baxter Street),and Little Water Street (which no longer exists)-Wikipedia

My niece's wedding was in two days and I had no decent shoes to wear, so I went looking for some plain heels. I got sidetracked in a boot store, looking at wonderful red cowboy boots and these were in a markdown pile. I love them- fit right in with my weird shoe fetish and are comfy to boot. Never did get the cowboy boots...

Designer shoes on Rue St.Paul in Old Montreal. My wife went into the store and bought a pair for herself before Christmas. While she was in the pool at our hotel,I went back to store and bought her a second pair that she liked as a Christmas gift.

On Boxing Day(Dec.26th),I went with her again and she bought a 3rd pair she really liked.

After we got home from our trip from Montreal, she ordered 2 more pairs on-line! She loves Fluevog shoes! She gave a whole bag full of her old shoes to a thrift store after that.

When I wear these shoes, I feel like I rock the world precariously balanced on a beautiful claw-footed detail. I know I 'own' the room! John Fluevog, you know how to capture a feeling and provide a shoe with attitude.

The We're Here! gang is considering all things brown today.

Cruel because I paid a fortune for them, love them to bits, but can't walk in them. They are now objets d'art!

Toronto is the provincial capital of Ontario. With a recorded population of 2,731,571 in 2016, it is the most populous city in Canada and the fourth most populous city in North America. The city is the anchor of the Golden Horseshoe, an urban agglomeration of 9,245,438 people (as of 2016) surrounding the western end of Lake Ontario, while the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) proper had a 2016 population of 6,417,516. Toronto is an international centre of business, finance, arts, and culture, and is recognized as one of the most multicultural and cosmopolitan cities in the world.

People have travelled through and inhabited the Toronto area, located on a broad sloping plateau interspersed with rivers, deep ravines, and urban forest, for more than 10,000 years. After the broadly disputed Toronto Purchase, when the Mississauga surrendered the area to the British Crown, the British established the town of York in 1793 and later designated it as the capital of Upper Canada. During the War of 1812, the town was the site of the Battle of York and suffered heavy damage by American troops. York was renamed and incorporated in 1834 as the city of Toronto. It was designated as the capital of the province of Ontario in 1867 during Canadian Confederation. The city proper has since expanded past its original borders through both annexation and amalgamation to its current area of 630.2 km2 (243.3 sq mi).

The diverse population of Toronto reflects its current and historical role as an important destination for immigrants to Canada. More than 50 percent of residents belong to a visible minority population group, and over 200 distinct ethnic origins are represented among its inhabitants. While the majority of Torontonians speak English as their primary language, over 160 languages are spoken in the city.

Toronto is a prominent centre for music, theatre, motion picture production, and television production, and is home to the headquarters of Canada's major national broadcast networks and media outlets. Its varied cultural institutions, which include numerous museums and galleries, festivals and public events, entertainment districts, national historic sites, and sports activities, attract over 43 million tourists each year. Toronto is known for its many skyscrapers and high-rise buildings, in particular the tallest free-standing structure in the Western Hemisphere, the CN Tower.

The city is home to the Toronto Stock Exchange, the headquarters of Canada's five largest banks, and the headquarters of many large Canadian and multinational corporations. Its economy is highly diversified with strengths in technology, design, financial services, life sciences, education, arts, fashion, aerospace, environmental innovation, food services, and tourism.

"But they match my eyes..."

Pudding really wanted these lovely blue velvet Fluevogs (they're vegan!). We thought they looked sort of like 70s platform shoes and that it was better to get a photo today than miss yet another challenge! And Fluevog has been making and selling "unique soles for unique souls since 1970". So, um, aren't they from the 70s?

Thanks to my friend and co-worker Marisol who has an amazing Fluevog collection (I think more Fluevogs than I have B girls) for suggesting these shoes for my last minute photo and for going with me to the store to take the photo. It was fun to meet everyone in the shop and of course they loved Pudding too. :)

Sorry we have missed the past few challenges. Our move was so much more time consuming than I expected. We are finally all done with our old place though and getting unpacked and settled in our new home...yay!

... but I could have purchased some gorgeous red boots that were close by at John Fluevog's design store in Gastown, Vancouver BC

Completely smitten with my new utterly impractical olive green suede Fluevogs. I hate to admit it, but even as out-of-character as femme heels are for me, I really enjoy being just shy of six feet tall.

This is a very large file, so you can zoom in to read things if you like.

This is fun, high-end footwear. Their shop in Calgary is quite the place. While the sales and new stock are on the mail level, they have a cute little museum on the mezzanine. In the basement is an interesting art gallery space, The Underground Gallery.

Had these John Fluevog for almost 20 years!

I bought this vintage dress on Etsy a few days ago from Pop Fizz Vintage. It's polyester of course, and I could only wear in for 10 minutes before feeling like I was going to die in my non air conditioned apartment. But I thought I should take a picture of it anyway. It will be perfect for fall

Uh-oh. It seems I have recently acquired a rather expensive addiction - Fluevogs.

I'm happy to be wearing tights again, after an insanely hot summer...

- greenlight, only you would call -

Just a simple Bench Monday shot for me today. In honor of St. Patrick's Day on Wednesday, I decided to wear the green Fluevogs and use the dark green wall for the background. This was my very first Fluevog purchase back in 2003. The moment I saw these shoes I knew I had to have them. Like most Fluevogs, these were a limited edition color, and I know I will probably never part with them, even though they do fit a little more snug after having a baby.

I splurged...but it was love at first sight. I saw these shoes on the Fluevog website a few days ago and I couldn't get them out of my mind.

"The Body Parts Family was a Signature Series originally created for one season, 10 years ago. The shoe family with the phallic heel, was John (Fluevog)'s Anti-AIDS shoe. As his Message, now etched into the sole, proclaims: Your Body Parts are not Communal Property."

In addition to the anti-AIDS message, these shoes are literally sex-on-heels. I have been in search of a comfortable pair of evening shoes with sky-high heels and I think my search is over. The 4" heels with concealed 3/4" platform and padded insoles mean I will have no trouble dancing into the wee hours of the night.

Great canvas at the John Fluevog Store.
