Sometimes it's hard to dream big. Ever wonder though, what if we've stumbled on something important?.

.

When I get home from vacation, I'll be punching the clock at 10pm tonight at a very humble job. IG fame is fun but, if you met the analog Josh, I promise you wouldn't be very star struck. :-) I wonder often, "Who I am to think about changing the world?" What gives me the nerve?.

.

To be honest, I guess it's your fault. :-). Time and again you guys tell me that Instagram and our #JJ community has really changed your life for the good, brought you authentic friends and more joy from living creatively. Your feedback has me hooked. I love the feeling of being a part of something important. Something good that I can be proud of.

.

It's been almost 4 years since I pulled over on the side of the road and tapped out my first "Instatip" to my 300 followers. I had no idea at the time but I believe, at that moment, I was a part of the beginnings of a movement. I was caught up on the leading edge of a swell of democratized creativity that is now sweeping the globe.

.

More images have been created and shared in the last few years than in all of history combined. Many millions of images have been submitted to our #JJ events and every one of them tells a story. A piece of who we are. And here's the magic. When we pull those pieces together something amazing happens. When we see humanity as a whole, we start to realize that we don't have to feel afraid. We understand don't have to feel alone. We don't have to be afraid. We can make it through the tough times and better yet, we can thrive. We can finally find the beauty in life that so often escapes us.

littleyellowflower: I love these ideas/ thoughts ... And @joehaggard made an amazing point... Perhaps it feels safer somehow to give the kind of support and encouragement that we give each other here - but if we made an intentional effort (and risk!:) ) to give the same "to the people around us everyday" as joe said - yeah, we would change the world. And of course joe is echoing the greatest man who ever walked the earth...

But I always make sure that I check in... As soon as I wake up I check my texts email, then your feed and my personal following on hectic mornings I might be late but I get here... #JJ_FORUM_0889- How amazing is this shot submitted a few days back by @wrongrob? It was one of my very favorite shots of the weeks best theme and inspired our "Crowded" theme for today.

#JJ_INSTATIP- "Breaking Rule Number One"-.

.

Personally I feel there is one, most important, "rule" I follow when I'm composing a shot. I clarify and isolate my subject. Another way of putting it, I decide what I want my viewer to look at then I find a way to minimize or get everything else out of the shot.

.

Rules can be broken. :-). I think this shot is a good example. There is no one clearly defined subject to hold onto is there. No silhouette of someone smoking on the roof for example. The subject of this image is a still very strong though, in my opinion. It's just a bit more nuanced.

.

Sometimes your subject is an idea. A feeling. To me the subject of this shot is the crowded, geometric, controlled chaos of the city. And here's the interesting part to me. Even though I can't point to a specific section of the composition as the subject, the number one rule still applies. This picture is about the shapes of the city. For me it works so well because @wrongrob very effectively composed it to "get everything else out of the shot".

Evening everyone. Thought I'd use this cool app called #Lightspeed and take you along as I #walk the loop during my night job at the assisted living home I work at here near Atlanta. Some of you might remember I've been trying to get in #10000steps a day. I call my "get healthy" program #jj_reboot. Always putting together nice little packaged events aren't? ;-). I'll choose not to look at as kind of off, but instead as passionate and living my job. ;-). Here's a couple other relavant app tips for you. I used Square Ready Video to full crop and I use Steps to log my 10,000 a day.
