De Barra's world-famous Folk House. Noel Redding of the Jimi Hendrix Experience used to play and hang out here. An annual weekend festival is now held in his honour. Always a brilliant festival of top-class music. One of a number held throughout the year. You'd never know who you would meet there and that goes for any time.

After all the jacks are in their boxes

And the clowns have all gone to bed

You can hear happiness staggering on down the street footsteps dressed in red

And the wind whispers Mary

A broom is drearily sweeping up the broken pieces of yesterdays life

Somewhere a queen is weeping

Somewhere a king has no wife

And the wind, it cries Mary

The traffic lights, they turn, uh, blue tomorrow

And shine their emptiness down on my bed

The tiny island sags down stream

Cause the life that lived is, is dead

And the wind screams Mary

Uh-will the wind ever remember the names it has blow in the past?

And with this crutch, its old age

And its wisdom it whispers, "No, this will be the last"

And the wind cries Mary

jimi's dad gave me a copy of this picture when i worked at the mason clinic parking garage..he was a great guy and very proud of his son..

This is an original 1968 UK release of the Jimi Hendrix double LP Electric Ladyland. It will be on Ebay soon since I know my fiancee doesn't want it in the house

Jimi Hendrix was a rock guitarist, singer, and songwriter. His mainstream career lasted only four years, but he is widely regarded as one of the most influential guitarists in history and one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th century.

It's been a bad year for Hendrix bandmates; first Buddy Miles and now Mitchell. I think only Billy Cox and Juma Sultan are still around from back then

When "Smash Hits" by the Jimi Hendrix Experience appeared in June of 1969, the package included a poster of the group on horses, portrayed as cowboys in the old West.

Hendrix, bassist Noel Redding and drummer Mitch Mitchell had been photographed by Ed Thrasher on the back lot at the Warner Brothers studio in Los Angeles.

Post card signed after an in-store appearance at (now closed) Tower Books on 4th street in New York City, 1996. I was actually late for the signing and managed to catch Noel as he was about to leave and there was no crowd around!

He asked me where I got the post card and I told him I purchased it at the (long gone) Postermat on 8th Street, which, incidentally used to be on the same street as Electric Lady Studios.

It was an immense pleasure meeting him. I'm glad and fortunate to have had the ... Experience.

The death of drummer Mitch Mitchell, aged 61, marks an unwanted milestone in rock mortality. Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, all have suffered fatalities over the years. However, with the passing of Mitchell, all three members of the Jimi Hendrix Experience are now dead. This is especially poignant since, with 1968's Electric Ladyland, the three of them created a double album of such sheer volume, incandescence and pyromaniac creativity that it remains unmatched and undimmed. It still has the power to knock you off your seat and Mitch Mitchell's percussive ferocity is a significant contributor to that.
