That gap on the left shows how far the garage has slid on its foundation, pushed by high winds.
A spectacular and neglected fall call Linn jaw on the Linnhouse Water out of Edinburgh and close to Livingston.
A bit of a tricky route to get here but certainly worth it. Light wasn't at it's best and autumnal colours still a bit to go.
So, I opted for a ten minute exposure here to emphasise the dark, almost black, water.

Hier handelt es sich um ein Bild von einer Rückreise aus Oberschlesien. Im Bhf. Jawor stand ein in Borow beladener Zug der Staatsbahn, bestimmt für die Wasserbaustellen im Norden des Landes.
Mein Plastikopter war an jenem Tag leider unpässlich und zeigte Schwäche. Also baute ich das Hochstativ zwischen zwei Güterwagen auf, um wenigstens halbwegs an Kranführerblick zu gewinnen. Zum Glück fielen nur vor mir schlecht gesicherte Steine aus den Waggons und alles ging ohne Zwischenfälle über die Bühne. M62-1199 (PMT) hat sich über all die Jahre als wirklich treue Seele erwiesen. Sie drückte einen Leerzug nach Jawor Ost. Wirklich schade, dass sie ihre Lokschilder verloren hat, die waren sehr markant.

Amazing skies in the Southland on my very first day of full retirement.
Vom Rastplatz Tungeneset aus kann man das Gebirgsmassiv Oksen sehr gut sehen. Bekannt ist es durch die Okshornan, des Teufels Zähne. Spitz und zackig erheben sie sich aus dem Nordatlantik. Ein beeindruckender Ausblick, doch Vorsicht, die Felsen auf denen man entlang läuft sind rund geschliffen und können bei Schnee oder Regen sehr glatt sein ... und dann geht's ab ins Wasser. Der Ausstieg dürfte sehr schwierig sein - es besteht Lebensgefahr!

Saw this fellow swimming around with its bill open. At first I thought it had something caught in the base of its bill, but on further inspection saw that the lower mandible is broken! Poor guy must have had a run-in with the local gator that is sometimes seen on the pond. He looks healthy otherwise, but I'm sure it hinders his ability to catch fish. I hope he survives.

Nothing amazes me more than the Black Skimmers ability to scoop up fish with its lower mandible. I spent a day on the Gulf Coast with a huge flock of wintering birds with great light and no shortage of action! I'd rate it as one of my favorite birding/photography days of all time.
So needless to say - there will be more photos to come of the "Skimmers" plus lots of other shore birds!!
Galapagos Islands
The Galapagos green turtle is only commonly seen in a few places in the world, including Galapagos. They are the only species of sea turtle to nest in Galapagos, with some females returning several times to lay their eggs, and are also the most common species sighted. They live in the tropical and sub-tropical waters around the Pacific islands, differing from other marine turtles by their serrated lower jaw and a single pair of scales covering their eyes.
Females will lay their eggs at night after crawling up the beach past the high tide mark and digging a nest with their back flippers. The female will then lay between 50 and 200 eggs before making her way back down to the ocean before the sun rises.

Jaw Dropper - After a fruitless morning of photography, this beauty appeared and started feeding on sap wells for 2 hours. I patiently waited, and positioned myself to get the background I desired.
Woodpeckers are one of my favorite birds to photograph ever since I accidentally found a Black-backed Woodpecker nest in Yosemite NP in 2015. One of my favorite birds ever is the Pileated Woodpecker. However, recently I haven't photographed them much due to having a zoom lens which isn't ideal for smaller subjects. Now that I have a prime lens, I'm challenging myself to start photographing woodpeckers and passerines again.
It is highly unusual to catch more than a fleeting glimpse of the Red-breasted Sapsucker, so I wanted to take full advantage of this most tolerant individual. This bird was at such ease that it even preened for nearly 2 minutes just 15 feet from my lens.
I took over 700 shots during roughly 2 hours. I don't do setup photography or use playback (just a personal decision rather than an ethical one) as I enjoy the challenge of capturing wildlife performing natural behaviors. My jaw dropped, when this bird landed on this gorgeous lichen branch and it looked like a studio setting. The background is entirely unaltered, and I'm really enjoying the subject separation that shooting wide open on a prime allows.

Durch ein Tor aus mächtigen Blauwalunterkieferknochen betreten die Besucher das Gelände des Dr.-Carl-Häberlin-Friesen-Museums. Auf dem ca. 10 000 Quadratmeter großen Grundstück inmitten der Stadt Wyk befindet sich neben dem Haupthaus mit kulturhistorischer Sammlung auch das 1617 erbaute und damit älteste Haus der Insel Föhr, das im Jahre 1927 aus dem Dorf Alkersum auf das Museumsgelände versetzt wurde. Eine Bockwindmühle von der Hallig Langeneß und eine landwirtschaftliche Scheune aus dem Dorf Midlum runden das Bild des kleinen Freilichtmuseumskomplexes ab.
Visitors enter the grounds of the Dr.-Carl-Häberlin-Friesen-Museum through a gate made of mighty blue whale jawbones. On the approximately 10 000 square meters of land in the middle of the city Wyk is located next to the main building with cultural-historical collection and built in 1617 and thus the oldest house on the island Föhr, which was transferred in 1927 from the village Alkersum on the museum grounds. A windmill from the Hallig Langeneß and an agricultural barn from the village of Midlum complete the picture of the small open-air museum complex.
