In France, kids must be potty trained before their first year of Maternelle. The "petite section" is for 2.5 - 3.5 year olds and Maximilien will be joining his class September 2010. He will be 3.5 years old.
And one of the requirements of the maternelle is that he be potty trained. Before Alixe was born I tried to work with him on using the potty. We had a few days of success and then a few days of accidents or flat out refusals to use the potty. Then Alixe was born and we just forgot about the potty training.
Now that I have two kids in diapers, I feel the need to get the oldest one out of diapers ASAP.
So, we're back to potty training again. Once Max comes home from the creche, he puts on his "culotte" and if he goes peepee on the potty he gets a special treat (mini reeses peanut butter cup) and if he does ther other he get a mommy and daddy ice cream cone which is just a bigger version of there dipped ice cream cones we get at Picard. So, far he's been motivated to come home and change into his underwear and we've only had one accident this week.
Max wanted me to take a photo of him in his underwear tonight and this is how he posed himself. I couldn't resist because he actually asked that I take his photo and for the longest time he's resisted the camera so I was glad to oblige him.
He sure is proud to be wearing underwear. I think by spring time he'll be potty trained. I hope... :)
Cake.... (a long story - shortened)
I had an OLD orange cake mix, which I baked in early Dec. It was so nasty, it tasted like baby aspirins..... gag, gag, gag.... The store didn't have any orange mixes, so we had a lemon cake instead.
We're Here - Peeking
I had a fun day with my daughter. She wanted to go to a new park in town as a reward for helping me with my photo. Thirty degrees fahrenheit felt warm, so we stayed quite a while. I thought about getting a stranger shot, but chickened out. Next time...
At least that was true several mornings in early January, but the last couple days were pretty drab and gray mostly as the heavy rains move in, temps warm up, snow melts, and worries about flooding are heavy in Western Washington and Oregon. Memories of the January storms of 2009 creep in, I-5 was flooded for quite awhile, and flooding caused damages in many areas, with landslides and erosion and flooded homes.
That was also the storm that brought me a winning shot... the double rainbow in the comments below which was also in the Weather Guide calendar, and is now hanging as a framed and matted 16 x 20 in our local clinic along with some lenticular shots over local mountains. one day I will find a way financially to do gallery shows, I promise....
