The Cathedral of Virgin Mary in Verona was built on the ruins of two churches, destroyed by the earthquake in 1117. The present temple was founded in 1137, a combination of Romanesque and Gothic style.
The facade is multilevel, richly decorated with a canopy portal.
The interior is three-nave, the aisles are separated from the main by a strip of arcades supported by red marble pillars. In the aisles on each side there are four chapels, beautifully decorated mainly with sculptures and paintings of Renaissance. The cathedral has numerous tombs, including Saint Agata and Pope Lucio III. The chancel is finished with a semicircular apse as in Romanesque style and the vault is covered with very delicate frescoes.
Next to the cathedral is a baptistery from 1123 built in Romanesque style, in which there is a baptismal font carved from one piece of marble.
Another valuable monument is the church of St. Helena from 9th century, rebuilt after the earthquake in 1117. Inside the church there are excavations of an older basilica from 4th century.

Katedra Najświętszej Marii Panny w Weronie została zbudowana na gruzach dwóch kościołów, zniszczonych przez trzęsienie ziemi w 1117 roku. Obecna świątynia powstała w 1137 roku, stanowi połączenie stylu romańskiego i gotyku.
Fasada jest wielopoziomowa, bogato zdobiona portalem baldachimowym.
Wnętrze jest trzynawowe, nawy boczne są oddzielone od głównej pasem arkad wspartych na czerwonych, marmurowych filarach. W nawach bocznych po każdej stronie znajdują się po cztery kaplice, pięknie ozdobione głównie rzeźbami i obrazami renesansu. W katedrze znajdują się liczne grobowce m.in. świętej Agaty i papieża Lucio III. Prezbiterium jest zakończone półokrągłą absydą jak w stylu romańskim a sklepienie pokrywają bardzo delikatne freski.
Obok katedry jest zbudowane w stylu romańskim baptysterium z 1123 roku, w którym znajduje się chrzcielnica wyrzeźbiona z jednego kawałka marmuru.
Innym cennym zabytkiem jest kościół św. Heleny z IX wieku, odbudowany po trzęsieniu ziemi w 1117. W środku kościoła znajdują się wykopaliska jeszcze starszej bazyliki z IV wieku.

Really dry here. We had drought in Nebraska until last week. This stream was dry. I don't know what caused the dark straight line under the stream. I like the meanders from the stream.
One of my favorite picture I took in 2016 In Leszno. This was great event, weather was amazing, there was beautiful sun and lot's of clouds. Also sunset was great, making evening and night show amazing. Maybe in 2018 there will be next edition?

"Divný dusno, dyť je ještě skoro ráno..."
Je 1. červenec 2010 a po té pondělní nehodě ešusu se situace na trati do Ústí konečně trochu stabilizuje. Ale ještě pořád přijíždějí další zbytné velké lokomotivy z okolních dep, zatímco čety na těch "domácích" hledají způsob, jak po jedné koleji a bez napětí protlačit pod Větruší všechnu tu dopravu... Střídají se přípřeže a postrky, evidentně všichni ještě trochu tápou.
Pamatuju si to jako celkem horký dopoledne, teplota ten den štrejchne o třicítku. Dostal jsem se k trati jenom na chvilku a ne moc daleko, nejdřív mě překvapí postrk místo přípřeže... Ale pak to přijde. EC 176 Alois Negrelli má sekyru něco přes dvacet minut a už vjíždí do Ústí. Chvíle, kvůli které se na zádech veze těch dvanáct válců, za chvíli přijde...

It has been busy days back in 2010. Let me explain it briefly. On Monday, June 28th there has been a pretty serious crash involving "CityElephant" 471.005. An engineer probably collapsed while he was supposed to decrease the speed from some 60 mph to just 25. As a result, the front car of his EMU derailed so badly that it hit the tiny concrete wall next to the track, which proved to be fatal. You may see it in the previous pictures.
He had also swept away a few electricity poles next to the track and as a result, it completely disabled the whole trolley line. In the initial day they simply had to find a different route for all those trains that have to pass through such an important crossroad, but a day after they started using diesel locomotives to pull/push all the trains.
And this is a very fine example of things mentioned above. It is still late morning, July 1st 2010, but it also pretty hot and the "Goggles" 750.410 is already heating up its engine as it is going to push all that posh EC-Class train through the scene of accident.
