I really liked the sun rays in this shot, lighting up the falls!! Reminds me of God saying hello!!

The stream above Jackson Falls was ablaze with late afternoon color when we were there earlier this month.

Another oldie but a goodie scanned from Fujichrome Velvia slide film. I don't remember the year this taken but it was on a workshop in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. A location that I would like to revisit and shoot again with digital.... so many places to see and photograph.

Heading back to the car after photographing the falls, the morning sun was beaming through the trees. It was kind of funky how the two trees in the foreground had combined into one. Duck River, Tennessee, USA, June 2022

This picture was taken at Jackson Falls it has been so cold lately the water at the edge had turned to ice my second attempt with this ice I think it is better than the 1st Not my normal kind of picture but I am trying to learn to photograph different subjects other than my favorite feathered friends and other critters.

Wildcat River at Jackson Falls

The water flow was quite high on this day. It took a bit of scrambling to get the angle to capture this image.

Found this group of leaves on the rocks in front of the falls. Once you shoot the big scene, look for little ones. Jackson Falls, Tennessee, USA, June 2022

In Jackson New Hampshire, the Wildcat River winds its way down hill over and past the granite softening the hard edges. This image was taken over 25 seconds using the Lee “Big Stopper” ND filter.

Georgia O'Keefe painted a lot of flowers in her day. If she had come across one of these sulfur mushrooms, she might of done something like this. Jackson Falls, Tennessee, USA, September 2022

A different angle of Jackson Falls to split the frame between the flow and the foliage. With the recent lack of rain, I was lucky to get this much flow in the falls. Duck River, Tennessee, USA, June 2022

Got up early one morning while visiting my brother in Tennessee to see if there was any water flowing at Jackson Falls. As it turned out, there was a little despite the recent lack of rain. The air was very still,so I was able to get away with a long shutter speed and keep the flowers sharp. Duck River, Tennessee, USA, June 2022

These are some great falls that cascade down across the rocks for about 1,000 feet, so lots of neat compositions abound. A great place to explore and photograph.

Also known as Chicken of the Woods, although I thought the latter applied to people who are afraid to climb trees. My brother Rick and I went hiking in some local woods and came across a couple sulfur mushrooms. Their color are really interesting, and they are apparently edible ... but we didn't try them. They are supposed to taste similar to crab meat. This specimen was about the size of a head of lettuce, but they can grow up to 100 pounds. Duck River, Tennessee, USA, October 2022

Short trail to walk around Jackson Falls - I just fell in love with nature walks when the sun just shines through the trees and fresh air and colorful wonders - ALL THAT!

We're back at Jackson Falls with a slightly tighter view that before with some oakleaf hydrangea at the base of a tree. The air was nice and still, so the flowers came out pretty sharp on the 30 second exposure. Duck River, Tennessee, USA, June 2022

The northern part of New Hampshire contains hundreds of waterfalls, wild brooks and streams from the abundant rain and winter snows. Great hiking and a photographer's paradise.

It’s #WaterfallWednesday and now that I’ve been home and was able to access @lightroom to fully stitch together shots of #jacksonfalls, I’m excited to show off how cool and secluded and hidden this fall is. Tucked away in a small gorge off the Natchez Trace Parkway, Jackson Falls is a branch of the Duck River and is a sculpted cascade down a 900 foot steep path that descends from the parkway into the gorge itself. While the main part of the falls is at the end of the trail, a whole sheet of water precedes them and cascades down to form the base of the fall which is seen here. With the rocks and trees of the gorge stretching above, the whole environment feels like a walled garden with a spectacular fountain at its center.

A pretty location in New England that you can hike, jump rocks, and explore. Pretty cascading waterfalls of many sizes there.

Jackson Falls, White Mountains, Jackson, NH

Near the top of the trail, at Jackson Falls these two have been "going at it" for quite some time...evidently! The straight one is a really large (over 18") Cedar, but at this time of year I'm not to sure what the other tree (w/out leaves) is!

Mile 404.7 on the Natchez Trace Parkway, in Tennessee. This is the upper park of the falls.

Apparently Rattling Run is pretty heavily posted now, which is unfortunate. I didn't run into any problems, but I don't know what the future holds.

Lower Jackson Falls is the first in a series of 3 waterfalls along Rattling Run in the Roaring Run Natural Area in Kiski Twp, Armstrong County, PA. Follow the Rock Furnace Trail from the trailhead along Browntown Road in Apollo PA for about 3/4 mile. At the bottom of a hill, there is a little cut out in the woods on the right hand side with a bench and a brand new sign stating the property line for the Roaring Run Watershed is the edge of the woods. Right past the sign is a visible foot trail into the woods. Follow the trial, past some more No Trespassing signs, and Lower Jackson is a fairly easy hike along the creek. Upstream are two more waterfalls.

After many complaints, I finally picked up an ultra wide lens, a Tamron 10-24. Although I would rather have all Pentax gear, the price was right and the reviews were positive for the price point, so I figured I'd give it a try. I've been very happy with it in practice over the last week.

Made a fall trip to Nashville and drove south on the Natchez Trace Parkway to photograph Jackson Falls. While I like the perspective and all of the leaves lining the bed of the upper part of the falls, the water was down to just a trickle.

The first in a series of 3 waterfalls along Rattling Run in the Roaring Run Natural Area in Kiski Township, Armstrong County, PA.

The best way to access this waterfall is to park at the trail head to the Rock Furnace Trail along Brownstown Road. There's a footpath that breaks away from the main trail about a mile in. Follow rattling run a fairly short distance to the lower falls.

Thankfully the water level was fairly high due to recent rainfalls.
