"""In the early 1500s, the first Jack-in-the-Box was made by a German clockmaker known as Claus. Claus built a wooden box, with metal edges and a handle that would pop out a cartoon devil or “Jack” after cranking the handle.

It was built as a gift for a local prince's fifth birthday. After seeing this toy, other nobles requested their own "Devils-in-a-box" for their children.

In the early 18th century, improved toy mechanisms made the Jack-in-the-Box more widely available for all children and not just royalty.

The Jack-in-the-Box has been used for centuries by cartoonists as a way to describe and poke fun at politicians.

The name Jack in the Box has also been used as the name of a fast food company, who began using the toy and the phrase as their mascot in the early 1950s."""

This is a paper folded version. I used 30x60cm duo colored Kraft paper (gold /red).

Final size: a little box 5x5x5cm, when the box is closed. When Jack pops out the height is 10cm ;-))

The Dragon often visits my sister now too. He loves to explore their home, play with their cat toys and check out Sethi's and Filou's food. One of the things he enjoys most is hiding behind the sofa and popping up like a jack-in-the-box when nobody expects him to be there. The humans think this is funny, the other cats think it's just plain annoying.

It is that day of the week again my lovely Flickeroos. That is right, Happy Teddy Bear Tuesday.

👻 And here is my little story as to why!

It's not that I don't get along with men, no no no but I do! Of course a little Witch loves them to pieces, no matter how many pieces they end up being. And for sure I progress with my mates sending them harmonious love bites! I completely melt faster than the candles and adhere to all their manly needs. That is, until they all become big dracula babies and turn so...

Always remember to take your camera to a gun fight.

I found myself almost in the middle of this situation on Sunset Blvd, in Hollywood Ca. The LAPD had arrived in droves and before I knew it , two individuals were on the ground, I was not one of them.

Oh!, and I got off the first shot....grin!!

Jack-in-the-Box's Rose Parade float, "Jack's Samba Carnival," features street dancers and 15-foot-tall puppets. It was, by far, the most animated of the floats this year.

... simplicity: living life with open arms, a hug from behind, the sunlight softly coming in through the window, the ability to be yourself, taking a drive on a quiet road, the sounds of a church bell in the distance, the sound of a train whistle in the distance, a fresh breeze coming into the window, early evening, helping others,...

a good conversation, the sea, laughing at yourself, running through sprinklers, volunteering, the sound of an instrument playing softly, sailing, a walk in the rain, religion, family, amore, sharing an umbrella...

road trips, a smile, getting out of bed every morning and being grateful for another beautiful day, a good book, ...

a walk in the woods or along the beach, the rain, a good cup of coffee, nature, making a snowman, friendship, and peace.

Had some fun with the Dots cubes. Make sure you get in on the action as well with the new contest over on BrickNerd. Swag and sheep are waiting for a new home !

Jack in the Box

1490 Poinsett Highway, Greenville, SC

This location was built and opened in 2002.

The box has been opened and inside there is a bloodythirsty clown!.

The design process was really difficult because I wanted to get the most realistic LEGO Jack-in-the-box to date, so I used a lot of techniques and textures to get that mix between a toy and something alive.

It’s a render but I'm building it in real.

Jack-in-the-Box says Merry Christmas to all.....Happy Holidays....Thank you....

Happy days :-)

This was taken last year, before the accident, but I thought it conveyed that joyous moment.

Haven't been shooting much recently, combination of watching too much world cup football on TV, and Scotland basking in some glorious summer weather... both only happen every four years :-)

Flickr's had a facelift... for those who have opted in, you can see this larger by clicking on the image, or by hitting the "L" key.

For those opting out... it's old skool larger right here.

Benched in Southern California

The time change this past weekend was so welcomed. The extra hour of sleep was so nice, and the sun was shining this morning which made me just want to get outside and enjoy it. We went for a long walk today with the dog around the neighborhood, and then we played in the yard for awhile. Just a perfect fall day.

Isn't this a marvelous collection? I love Pez and have a few dispensers I've collected over the years. This collection on display at the Alameda County Fair was breathtaking. It was SO much fun to see!

My entry for the Brickset 2016 Mixels Competition:

The Toyxels!

Playtime is never over with the Toyxels! No one knows for sure where these mysterious toylike Mixels came from, but rumor has it that they were originally built in the Klinkerton factories of old. Whether that's true or not, one thing is certain: the joyful Toyxels love to play and pull harmless pranks on their fellow Mixopolis neighbors.
