Sufi whirling (or Sufi turning): is a form of physically active meditation which originated among certain Sufi groups, and which is still practiced by the Sufi Dervishes of the Mevlevi order and other orders such as the Rifa'i-Marufi. Halay and similar dances are parts of multiple ancient folk dance traditions and cultures throughout the Middle East and regions in proximity.
These dances are mostly found in weddings and generally accompanied by zurna and davul, but in the recent years, electronic instruments have started to replace them. Typically, Halay dancers form a circle or a line, while holding each other in many ways, such as finger to finger, shoulder to shoulder, or hand to hand. The last and the first player may hold a piece of cloth. It usually begins slow and speeds up.

The screwdriver was a Pozidriv no.2 in black, which I still have in my toolbox today.
Pozidriv screwdrivers are an improved version of the Phillips cross-headed screwdriver, redisgned to give more torque (applied force), with less risk of cam-out (slipping out).
The toolbox has been out on my balcony for the last 20 years, and some of the tools have rusted in that time - but not the Pozidriv no.2 in black.
Note that I was wearing protective spectacles, with side protection for the eyes.
Oh yeah, dyed my hair red. Surprise.
I have all A's in my classes except math. Maybe school isn't all that bad?

Smoke is dangerous! Only when you inhale it, which I did, and I was coughing for the longest time. Really, the gasping could be heard from outer space. Good thing I had some hot chocolate with me to take away the most disgusting taste in the back of my mouth.

This was another foggy day at the Golden Temple, Amritsar, India and this devotee was performing ‘Sewa’ or the voluntary service of cleaning the floor. I was waiting to get a glimpse of the shrine so that I could manage some good photographs through the thick fog cover. The ‘Sarowar’ or the holy pond of the temple had a thick fog cover and visibility beyond a few yards had been reduced to zero.
It was freezing cold but I tell you I love shooting there even in these conditions. Its only when you walk out of the temple premises and put on your shoes that the warmth on your feet makes you feel how cold it was outside :-)
Day - 106 Oh come on!!! Enough already with this winter weather. I will admit that I like cooler weather in general, but it would be nice if it wasn't snowing. Gah!

These trees look different every time I see them. On this occasion they definitely remind me of ice skaters. Of course the fact that the big freeze continues might be influencing my preception:-)
I have no idea what they are - must inspect the leaves in summer to try and identify them.
Day 34 So my Dad will probably be coming home or going to rehab tomorrow. He's doing much better and the doctors are happy with his current status. As for being able to walk around well enough, Physical Therapy will determine if he needs a rehab facility for a couple of days. During PT today however he needed oxygen after walking for a bit so that's a bit concerning. I know he won't want to go to a rehab facility at all so he will more than likely make a full recovery from home.
Of course my mother is now starting to get sick and my sister is currently sick.
Guess who will take over PT and home care in the days to come?
