For GTWL, 5 things that most people don't know about me. I'm also going to add this to my confessions set and kill two birds with one stone. :P
Confession: I am a huge klutz.
I'm constantly running into things, tripping, pulling down displays in the grocery store, spilling drinks, stubbing my toes, skinning my knees, etc. It's really embarrassing most of the time. And painful...I'm not graceful in the least.
I've got a scar over my right eye from when I was 12. I roller skated into a hanging metal file organiser (kind of like this one) my mom had in her craft room. I listened to my mom and stopped skating in the house after that.
So after I posted yesterdays shot I completely passed out. My mom woke me up at 8 this morning because we had a guy coming to fix the air conditioner (FINALLY!). I feel like a complete asshole though because Xe called while I was driving and I said I'd call her back when I got home but I got home and forgot because my dad called to update me about my mom and her surgery and then I fell asleep.
My mom's doing really well! She was in the air force and she used to work on a runway and so with all the planes landing and taking off, plus all the loud equipment she worked with messed up her hearing in her left ear pretty bad. She also got a really bad ear infection when she was 19 that ended up eating parts of her inner ear away so that didn't help. But the surgery went really good, no complications, we're watching Bones and eating ice cream right now. I'm SO glad Booth isn't dead. The show would suck without him.
Okay and I'm I the only loser that bawled my eyes out watching the season finale of House? Oh my god. It was so sad. :(
My hair is still driving me crazy. I ordered some Atomic Pink and it should be here by Friday I'm hoping, if not then Monday. My dad says it looks like I dunked my head in a tub of sherbert. He's also been calling me Grapefruit, which he's shortened to G-unit. It was funny until he said "What kind of grown adult dyes their hair pink? Stupid." I guess I shouldn't be surprised, I pretty much expected it but still. It's irritating.
The nicest bloke I've never met. He's a talented fellow, so check him out now!

Charlie and I are celebrating eight-years of couple-dom today.
I often feel like I have very little in this life figured out, but I do have this one. I'm so grateful to have met my match in this world.
This is from our wedding day, in October of 2010, by emily g photography, she's some sort of light magician.
I find the weather in SF funny.
It amuses me how each neighborhood in the city can have completely different weather.
Twin Peaks, where I live, has weather that can be featured in any horror movie with FOG in the title.
I go out. Its windy, foggy and cold.
Yet I go a bit outside the hill and its nice and warm.
I go from wanting to wear a scarf to wanting to hang myself with it.
I also realized that the only scarves I have are Khmer scarves from Cambodia.
Some cheap shopping needs to be done.
it took forever to get here, but we got here, yea! more photos on 7s photostream. You should see the building he got.
Next up, looking for where I can get one of those cute schoolkid backpacks.
I took the day off work last Friday and decided to go for a walk along a local lake. The dragonflies were a little frisky that day, so finding one that would sit still long enough for me to get a decent shot was difficult. And it was wicked windy. ;-) Anyway, I'm amazed this came out as clear as it did as it was reeling all over the place with the wind. And they're frustrating little buggers. They'll hover long enough for you to get focused on them and then take off. Phhhhht. Pheromones.
the real version (as opposed to the outtake).
i was about to start writing about all that ensued this week, but frankly i'm too freaking wiped. i'll wrap up by stating that any work fundraiser that involves drinking beer and seeing your coworkers in awkward social situations is a good thing. also good: going into work late tomorrow, and starting the weekend with a haircut.
oh, and jared's newest nephew: elijah jeremy miller, currently three and a half days old. who i will hopefully be snuggling with this weekend. happy thursday peeps. we're almost there.

It must be early summertime -- I have an insatiable urge to do Halloween quilting! Recently some unknown force drew me back to my Halloween scrap vomit spectacular. I whipped up the last of the blocks while replaying Mass Effect 1, and now am almost halfway through piecing the top. It's turning out to be everything I'd hoped for an more -- in that it's a paean to both all the motifs I love about the season and to the joys of being a process quilter. The pattern was purchased on vacation six years ago, and the crazy array of fabrics is the result of years of being a fabric collector*. I've worked on it in fits and starts, every time I've wanted to bask in the feeling of being a kid in autumn. The end result is going to be an exuberant, ugly quilt, but the experience of making it has been a delight every step of the way.
*The fabrics also include some which were notably unearthed in the Great Garage/Basement Fabric Discovery Of 2009. That was back when, as newly converted quilters, Schnookie and I went through Boomer's 20-years-in-the-making fabric stash and picked out all the good stuff. In a lifetime of being a needleworker/crafter/whatever, that is one of my all-time favorite crafty memories. Oh, the tears of laughter we all shared, going through those enormous stacks of fabric!

"Did you cry in front of your managing director today? Oh no, you cried about your managing director." There's a difference. Kate and I saw both today.
Day 8/365
Open the gates and seize the day. Don't be afraid and don't delay.

I spent half my day at the beach today. Yes, it was covered in snow, but I had nothing to do today and it was a little warm/er. I loved watching the indifferent sea gulls, seeing the bleached sea shells, and hearing the sound of crushing waves. It was beautiful, even if there was snow on the ground!
