The village corn growers have been busy schucking corn and are now selecting only the sweetest kernals for the village freezer.
(They had to be very quick today as it's getting close to the start the start of Eurovision!)
Miss Batty wonders if she'll ever finish the bunting for the village fete as threading the machine needle is not easy for her. Perhaps I'll suggest she uses a thinner thread.
I am going to be making a LOT of new work this year. All images are available to purchase. Pricing can be found on my website:
The village Pack and Post Company wasn't sure if the parcel would get to Buck House before the wedding or even if the King and Queen would have any use for a 1/87th scale full dinner service.
After falling into the glass twice Vinnie the village vintner tastes his 2015 zinfandel and decides after a glass or two the villagers won't care what it tastes like.
The village amateur clockmakers decided to try to mend the village clock. Only time will tell if they suceed.
Meahwhile a long time ago Chris Farlowe recorded Out of Time (1966). I saw him once. He put on a great show. At the grand old age of 82 it seems he is still performing.
Out of Time was written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Mick Jagger produced the song for Chris Farlowe.

If you prefer here's the song by The Rolling Stones which was on their 1966 album Aftermath. I've seen The Stones a few times too.

The landing of the white lined shinx moth was a huge hit at the village fete this year. Much to the chagrin of the ladies in the jams and jellies tent. Even Billy realised displaying his home grown giant parsnip was now a lost cause.
(This white lined sphinx moth was already a goner when I found it)

What an opportunity to get this shot! Mr. Bricker’s interpretation of It’s A Small World Holiday in the rain has always been one of those shots I’d seen and said to myself “I’ve got to capture that someday!” Well, being a local now, this shot was now more easily possible. On this night I didn’t hesitate to pick up my camera and rush into this ridiculously rainy weather with my friend Caleb. The most unique photos can certainly happen in less than friendly weather conditions that’s for sure. It’s all about that color and reflection!

As I never use Photoshop, this one took a while to get right! I very nearly gave up on it but just as I thought I would never manage to get the shot the way I wanted it, the little dude decided to start behaving himself! :O)

Despite repeated tornado warnings for my area, I ventured into the woods today. Covered up with rain pants and a goretex jacket to avoid being devoured by clouds of mosquitos, I found a large but still fresh mushroom. Looked underneath and found some local residents! 😁
Read all about it. The village welcomes Oscar the new paperboy. He mostly delivers the weekly community newspapers and the free shopper papers.
Farmer Burt Giles and his wife Dotty had hoped to get everything ready for their Christmas Farmer market at Enchated Meadow Farm today. Their plans soon went awry when they realised that Cedric was about to fall off his ladder after perfectly hanging the Christmas wreath on the barn. Albert the village painter was totally oblivious to the accident as he was focused on gettig the barn painted so he could get off to the Dog and Duck for a swift half before lunch.

These shells washed ashore recently. They are quite small, the largest here being ~7/16" (12mm) at its widest diameter. The snails are pelagic and spend their entire life cycle floating on the surface. While slightly heavier than water, they maintain buoyancy by secreting a bubble net amidst some mucus.

This species is cosmopolitan in tropical & subtropical water. Thanks to my friend Sharon who alerted me after she found some locally on March 3 and then I saw these the next day. I looked on iNaturalist just now and there are 24 entries for California since January 21 of this year, 20 of those being in the last 5 days. It is a fairly rare occurrence for them to wash ashore here, but in this case "here" is a large part of California
