A Better New Year to all of You!

Giant Swallowtail

This giant swallowtail butterfly was on the move looking for nectar but pickings were slim compared to a month earlier so it kept returning to tithonia blooms. There’s a bit of tatter on the outer edges of its wings but that doesn’t distract from the beautiful markings and colors. After fueling up it found a host plant and deposited some eggs for the next generation.

Happy Monday!

Thought I share a black and white version of St Benet's Abbey on the Norfolk Broads

Every photo outing doesn’t have to lead to an exotic location it can be as simple as taking a ride as the day unwinds. As a child my dad would say let’s go for a ride there was no particular destination sometimes we would roam country roads, others we’d stop by one of his buddies place to say hello then still others we would end up at the soft serve ice cream stand. The day I saw this stand of trees with light low in the sky I was just out for a ride with no destination no expectation but what a treat seeing the tree trunks kissed by golden light.

“It is like a beautiful sunset you see once in your life, one you swear you will never forget as long as you live. And you never do forget, but you never have a reason to restore the memory—so it remains hidden inside. Until one day, for no apparent reason, you remember that sunset. You recall the way your skin felt as the sun brushed across it, the way the colors painted the sky. You wonder why it took you so long to go back to that place again, swearing you won't take so long next time. Only you do forget the memory and you may or may not ever relive it again.”

― J.A. Saare, Crimson Moon

A little preview for those that are still waiting for springtime blooms to appear.

Happy Monday!

This eel and great blue heron battled for 15 minutes that I know of it was brutal. No one on earth gets through life without struggles and each one of us has different ways of getting through the most difficult situations. Our struggles are real we need to fight the good fight right to the finish RIP dear Leslie.

Although my heart is heavy I wish you a happy Monday and ask that if you see or know someone struggling reach out even if only to say they are in your thoughts you never know how much a simple gesture can help the person on the other end.
