I think that the wooden piles were possibly supports from an old walkway through the dunes onto the beach.
In our 7 yrs in the north-east we've seen massive changes on Alnmouth beach both in terms of the course of the River Aln as it enters the sea, and in vast volumes of sand being moved as a result of storms. After one storm 3 or 4 years ago the end of a wooden walkway found itself about 8 feet above the beach, necessitating another replacement!
And the concrete anti-invasion blocks are routinely buried and revealed in a seemingly endless cycle.
As a photographer, a common theme I like to find is minimal geometry and patterns in nature or man-made objects.
This photo represents geometrical patterns and shapes created by the architecture and reflection of the Prudential Plaza in Jacksonville, FL. I walk past this building so many times, but one day managed to stand underneath it, and discovered this magic.
The architect is KBJ Architects from Jacksonville, FL, a firm responsible for shaping the incoming Jacksonville skyline we have today.

It was -21 degrees F with windchill around -50 F when I took this picture this morning. It was an amazing scene with huge amounts of steam billowing out of the areas of Lake Michigan that weren't frozen yet. There was also lots of blowing snow. One of the more memorable sunrises that I've witnessed.
