The Roman chroniclers talked about the fearsome sound of these horns. Hearing one would mean a berserk attack by Keltoi (what the Greeks called the barbaric non-Greeks they knew of) would be imminent, for example. Behind the boar's head bell of the horn is part of the reconstructed facsimile, built according to visual records and textual descriptions found in antiquity.
