combined two selfies. One taken with the front facing camera and a mirror the other taken with the back facing camera. That is a whole new level of vanity.

The Acropolis on the North side of the site is the largest structure at Ek' Balam and is believed to contain the tomb of Ukit Kan Le'k Tok', an important ruler in Ek’ Balam. Excavations on it began in 1998, when it was just a mound.
Ek' Balam [...] is a Yucatec-Maya archaeological site within the municipality of Temozón, Mexico, in the Mid-east of the Northern lowlands, and 51 kilometres (32 mi) northeast of Chichen Itza. From the Preclassic until the Postclassic period, it was the seat of a Mayan kingdom. [...]. At its height from 770 to 840 CE, Ek' Balam provides a rich resource of information for understanding northern Classic cities.

Messing around with various ipad photo editing tools.
Found a corker called ReTouch, which is essentially Content aware fill, and it removes people and objects from photos. Considering it was 69p I think it did a great job!
The beach in this shot was full of people in the side/background.

Apple iPad Mini PU Leather stand Case with 360 Degree Rotating Cover Green

What other strategies than the speculative Missing Link between the iPod Touch and the iPad could Apple decide for (if ever) for filling the gap between these two categories of device, and compete with other platforms/devices?
I think it's important to consider the whole iOS devices ecosystem, and in particular, in the state of Apple's set of iDevices, what to do with the iPod Touch, and how to fill the hole between the Pocket category and the Tablet category, and still keep consistency.
And maybe the deal is to not fill the gap with only one device, but two.
1. I don't (want to) believe in the 16:9 iPhone rumors; I prefer the 3:2 aspect ratio for pocketable devices' screens. Supporters say iOS would be supposed to accept height increase in resolution, as it is already asked for devs to support notifications bar events. Ok, but once held in landscape mode, the added pixel would be in width; what would happen?
Anyway, 16:9 is fine for vertical list of stuffs or for videos maybe, but 3:2 has really proved to work great.
2. What exactly is an iPod Touch? Who uses it and how/where?
Teenagers whose parents can't afford/don't want their child to own an iPhone/smartphone, maybe particularly playing games and taking pictures/videos. Other/older people use it as a kind of PDA.
WiFi only is limitative and a 3G version would be definitely too close to an iPhone and probably not in Apple's interest.
But who uses it only as a music player? Aren't other iPod better designed for this specific task? Then does a relative small size really matters?
3. The iPad mini 7.85" ...
Still not convinced. Apps useability, size compared to 16:9 7" tablet, etc.
4. Apple may not want to add a 3rd category of device as the speculated Missing Link, meaning a 3rd target for its developers. And this middle-range size may have too much trade-offs in usability.
At 6" or 7" you can't expect to do as much as on a bigger device, even if it's still called a 'tablet'. And it's at the limit of portability, not anymore really pocketable.
And simple things as reaching every areas of the screen with your thumbs while used in landscape mode is for most people hands impossible, as you need for example for typing on a keyboard the size of the screen (well, the keyboard can now be separated in 2 parts in iOS).

How could Apple deal with the increase in size of the iPhone's screen while still support its app catalog? Pixel doubling again would be overkill and technically, about doubling pixel density of screens is probably not feasible at low cost or at all. But how about simply tripling the original iPhone resolution (i.e. 1.5x the retina iPhone screen)?
Once screens attain a pixel density in the retina range, the blur caused by a 1.5x increase of an image become less perceptible, as Apple showed us with the retina MacBook Pro used at the non-native 1920x1200 resolution.
LG demonstrated recently a 440 ppi screen, achieving to attain the limits of eyes capacity to distinguish pixels for people with perfect vision. At 1440x960 (1.5x the iPhone retina display), the screen reach 3.93" in diagonal, with an increase of less than 6 mm in width compared to the actual screen size (and the whole device would simply go back to the width of the 3GS).
Untouched since 2010, the iPod Touch could be completely re-invented. A small form factor is great for a phone or a music player, but for a portable gaming device or a productive device, a bigger screen would be welcome.
At 326 ppi, a screen at the new resolution of 1440 x 960 would measure 5.3" in diagonal, at the limit of the pocketability, and 1.5x old (actual) apps would still look fine transitionally before they get upgraded to the new resolution.
Apple could even now add 3G support without competing directly with the iPhone (still not a phone, simply 3G data connection, as iPads).
The gap between devices would start to diminish a little more, and to complete the picture, there is still the room to insert a smaller iPad if usability is proved to be acceptable.
In the end, only 2 resolutions to support, with 4 different kind of usages.
