I can't believe how long it's been since I updated the thread on this build- I've been working on it incrementally but totally neglected to keep things posted.
Regardless, here's where I'm at;
five of the modules had severe air cavities under the main layer of resin where it ought to have been solid, so rather than ignore the issue (as it wasn't visible, but was structurally questionable) I cut out those areas before levelling them out with resin and filler.
Then this evening I rewatched Interstellar itself whilst panelling the repaired modules.
Tomorrow I'm going to build the master for the spherical joints... my intention is to vacuum form them in halves to preserve the ability for disassembly.
A photo I took while picnicking in the desert few months ago. Admiring the stars, I noticed this interesting angle of my husband. It is not his portrait and only an impression of an anonymous character in the dark. My husband said this photo reminds him of the song "Interstellar Overdrive" by Pink Floyd.
I think it fits :). You can click HERE to listen.

This is my first MOC. It started out as a Mining Freighter but shiny white and sleek design does not really match a Space Mining Company now, does it? Interstellar priority freighter it is, for the moment being. :)

Story synopsis: “An Interstellar League encounters an alien race which is militaristic and is trying to conquer nearby solar systems. They are located far from the League’s area, but some of the threatened planets are asking for help. Projections show that in just a few centuries the alien race might turn out to be a real threat. What to do – without risking lives?” – isfdb.org
Poul Anderson (1926-2001) was an American author known for his prolific work in science fiction and fantasy genres and for paying scrupulous attention to scientific detail. He published his first science fiction story as an undergraduate and became a freelance writer after graduating with a degree in physics in 1948. Some of his notable works include “The Broken Sword,” “Tau Zero,” and “Call Me Joe.”
James Cameron's "Avatar" and Poul Anderson's novelette "Call Me Joe" (Astounding Science Fiction, April, 1957) share some notable similarities in their plots. In "Call Me Joe," the paraplegic protagonist, Ed Anglesey, explores Jupiter through an artificial body, enjoying the newfound freedom and strength it provides. Over time, he becomes more integrated with the alien identity as he battles predators on Jupiter's surface.
Similarly, in "Avatar," the protagonist, Jake Sully, a paraplegic war veteran, connects with an avatar to navigate the alien world of Pandora. He too revels in the physical abilities of his avatar and faces conflicts with the planet's native creatures and culture.
Cameron has acknowledged various influences for "Avatar," including "Dances With Wolves," Rudyard Kipling, and Edgar Rice Burroughs, but has not specifically cited "Call Me Joe" among them.

A starless 3nm Narrowband Hydrogen-Alpha (Hα) study of the dust and gas in the Tarantula Nebula (NGC 2070), situated in the Large Magellanic Cloud (one of the Milky Way's satellite Galaxies).
The Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) is one of the irregular satellite dwarf Galaxies of the Milky Way Galaxy, that is among the closest Galaxies to Earth. There is also a Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC), both discovered by Magellan. The Magellanic Clouds are visible from the Southern Hemisphere with the naked eye.
The LMC contains the most active starburst region known in the Local Group of Galaxies. The Local Group comprises more than 54 Galaxies (mostly dwarf Galaxies). The three largest members of the group (in descending order) are the Andromeda Galaxy, the Milky Way Galaxy and the Triangulum Galaxy.
