Battle Group Poland tested its readiness and interoperability as part of NATO's enhanced Forward Presence during Bull Run, a simulated training exercise, July 16 near Suwalki, Poland. The unit rehearsed an alert, a tactical road march to designated positions throughout the area and set up community engagements with local residents. The training is designed to ensure that the U.S., Polish, U.K. and Romanian soldiers are capable and ready to carry out their allied mission to deter adversaries, and when necessary, defend the NATO alliance. The health and safety of U.S. service members and Palauan citizens participating in TF KM20 is an enduring priority. Prior to deploying, all exercise members participated in a three-week quarantine. After arriving in Palau, the Marines and Sailors remain quarantined for an additional 14 days. To date, all members deployed as part of TF KM20 tested negative for COVID-19. Gov. Martin O'Malley, governor of Maryland, conducted the first call on the Maryland First Responders Interoperable Radio System, or "Maryland FiRST," the new statewide 700 MHz radio system, during a ceremony held June 5, in the inner harbor of Baltimore, Md.
Maryland FiRST will provide statewide interoperable communications to connect Maryland's first responders on one secure radio system. The ceremonial first call connected Maryland State Police at the JFK Highway Barrack in Cecil County, Maryland State Police Headquarters in Pikesville, the Maryland Transportation Authority Police at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and the Kent County Emergency Communications Center on the Eastern Shore of Maryland on one digital and secure radio system.
This system lends to keeping the public safe during routine events and emergency situations by allowing first responders across the state to talk directly to dispatch and keeping lines of communication open to the personnel on-ground,
"Be safe, protect lives, and do your duty," said O'Malley.

Soldiers assigned to Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 111th Aviation Regiment, 77th Combat Aviation Brigade, conducted deck landings in the Arabian Gulf, Oct. 11-12. The UH-60 Blackhawk and AH-64 Apache crews took turns landing their aircraft aboard the USNS Alan Shepard to qualify their crews in this type of maneuver. Upon completion of the qualification each set of aircraft was refueled by the vessel and flown back to Camp Buehring, Kuwait.
