Sorry I have been away so long! I have been very very busy shooting photographs for my final year art degree show exhibition which is TOMORROW!
If anyone lives near Lancaster, it would be amazing to see you there! Here is the facebook event;
I will post the rest of the photographs from the show over the new 2 weeks before I go fly to San Francisco for my photography internship in San Jose this summer!!!
Olivia (stranger 6).
Olivia is doing an internship with the curator of a gallery and she was lucky enough to be able to work during the Haute Photography in Rotterdam. Then you don't have to sit in the office in a boring way and she could welcome the visitors during the exhibition and give them an explanation. She asked if I knew the work of the photographer Gemmy Woud. She pointed out to me the details in the photos and the recurring theme in the exhibited works. As we talked, I noticed the similarity between the color of Olivia's eyes and the color of the picture hanging behind her. Of course I was allowed to take a picture of Olivia, standing in front of that portrait. At home I edited the photo and converted it to black and white (see photo 2), also beautiful. I still choose the color variant because of the color of Olivia's eyes. Thanks again Olivia.
This is the 6th photo of my 4th round of the 100strangers project. I like doing it, that's why it's already the 4th round.

Honesty time. I've struggled for four years to get employment in my field. I finished my 4 year bachelor's program for photography and painting back in 2012. Since then I've busted my butt to get into advertising and have a consistent income. I knew it was going to be competitive, but I definitely was not expecting to still be counting my pennies come time for rent after 4+ years post graduation. It's rough. And it gets me down. I've bounced from serving jobs to internships that lead nowhere to scraping by on freelance mixed with savings. This summer the only job I was able to find that would hire me was a landscaping crew position. Pay isn't great and it's back breaking work, but it's exactly what I need in my life right now.
I've been glued to a computer screen for too many years feeling stressed and frustrated and I began to lose my love of art, the whole reason why I decided to study photography to begin with. So this summer I'm reconnecting with nature, breathing fresh air and being outside everyday, and kicking my body back into shape. It's hard, hot, dirty, sweaty, exhausting and certainly not glamorous. It's truthfully very humbling.

"This internship gave me hands on experience in detection with the same equipment that I will be using for independent research this coming year. I took a fundamentals of nuclear engineering class this past spring semester and it was a good opportunity to see current research in the field.
This internship showed me what it’s like to work as an engineering team. There were electrical, mechanical, and nuclear engineers working in the group and they each utilized their skills and worked together to complete the project. The internship also showed the research done by SPAWAR and other facilities to improve the warfighter’s abilities."
