Olivia (stranger 6).

Olivia is doing an internship with the curator of a gallery and she was lucky enough to be able to work during the Haute Photography in Rotterdam. Then you don't have to sit in the office in a boring way and she could welcome the visitors during the exhibition and give them an explanation. She asked if I knew the work of the photographer Gemmy Woud. She pointed out to me the details in the photos and the recurring theme in the exhibited works. As we talked, I noticed the similarity between the color of Olivia's eyes and the color of the picture hanging behind her. Of course I was allowed to take a picture of Olivia, standing in front of that portrait. At home I edited the photo and converted it to black and white (see photo 2), also beautiful. I still choose the color variant because of the color of Olivia's eyes. Thanks again Olivia.

This is the 6th photo of my 4th round of the 100strangers project. I like doing it, that's why it's already the 4th round.

Transiting across the Atlantic takes a few days so Holland America decided to give us a special show.

They had the crew pop the top on one of the crew's liferafts:

as a demonstration.

I feel sorry for the crew, looks like some pretty rough accommodations. Hopefully they get picked up along with the rest of us!

There were students aboard from a maritime college doing an internship and this was a part of their training. They'll wind up being officers so this teaches them the proper way to get the deck crew to do it and do it now!

Spread the word! reblog, link, whatever you can do! thanks!

Looking for an internship.

Ready to silkscreen this bitch.

Lewis Mumford, KBE (October 19, 1895 – January 26, 1990) was an American historian, sociologist, philosopher of technology, and literary critic. Particularly noted for his study of cities and urban architecture, he had a broad career as a writer. Mumford was influenced by the work of Scottish theorist Sir Patrick Geddes and worked closely with his associate the British sociologist Victor Branford Mumford was also a contemporary and friend of Frank Lloyd Wright, Clarence Stein, Frederic Osborn, Edmund N. Bacon, and Vannevar Bush.

Mumford believed that what defined humanity, what set human beings apart from other animals, was not primarily our use of tools (technology) but our use of language (symbols). He was convinced that the sharing of information and ideas amongst participants of primitive societies was completely natural to early humanity, and had obviously been the foundation of society as it became more sophisticated and complex. He had hopes for a continuation of this process of information “pooling” in the world as humanity moved into the future. Mumford's choice of the word "technics" throughout his work was deliberate. For Mumford, technology is one part of technics. Using the broader definition of the Greek tekhne, which means not only technology but also art, skill and dexterity, technics refers to the interplay of a social milieu and technological innovation—the "wishes, habits, ideas, goals" as well as "industrial processes" of a society. As Mumford writes at the beginning of Technics and Civilization, "other civilizations reached a high degree of technical proficiency without, apparently, being profoundly influenced by the methods and aims of technics."

Look into all your resources. Your teachers will be able to give you great advice and help you look for an internship. Many advisors are able to help as well. The instruction of artisans in drawing, painting, modeling, and designing, that they may successfully apply the principles of Art to the requirements of trade and manufacture. Second. The systematic training of students in the practice of Art, in order that they may understand its principles, give instruction to others, or become artists. Third. The general advancement of public Art Education, by the exhibition of works of Art and of Art school studies, and by lectures on Art. TECHSTYLE HAUS is first and foremost a learning tool. By choosing to work with textiles, we are inevitably challenging conventional architectural practices and approaching homebuilding with a fresh perspective. This challenge has encouraged us to consider the problem with playful and willing minds and has given us the opportunity to invent new solutions to old problems. Taken while I was on assignment for an internship in Denver. I'm from WI, and I had never seen so many hummingbirds in my life as I saw in the mountains. There would easily be 6-7 at a feeder at a time.
