Installé dans l'immeuble Grand écran, construit par Kenzo Tange, il accueille aujourd'hui plus de 120 boutiques. Au sein d'un triangle avenue d'Italie / rue Bobillot / rue Vandrezanne, il réunit commerces, bureaux, parking, discothèque et appartements (tours Béryl, Rubis et Agate).
La tour est surmontée d'une sculpture de Thierry Vidé, rappelant les tours de signalisation.
One of my favorite residential buildings in San Francisco, though I'm a bit conflicted with the photo. I hate all the telephone and internet cabling in the upper part of the frame, and there wasn't room to frame the shot without including the more modern cars at left of frame. Ah, well...maybe this one will grow on me.

This historic site at Promontory Summit, Utah Territory, was the locale of one of the most important accomplishments of the 19th century.
On May 10, 1869, officials of the Central Pacific Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad met here to drive four symbolic spikes (two gold), celebrating the completion of the first transcontinental railroad.
The Last Spike Ceremony is reenacted every year on the May 10th anniversary.
Working replicas of the 1860s steam locomotives 'Jupiter' and '119' keep the kids (and adults) enthralled.

Débutant au niveau de l'opéra Bastille au début du viaduc des Arts, elle suit une bande de terrain de 4,7 km de long jusqu'au boulevard périphérique au niveau de la porte de Montempoivre (précisément à la jonction du boulevard Carnot, de l'avenue Émile-Laurent et de la rue Édouard-Lartet où l'on y accède par soit un escalier moderne en colimaçon, soit par une pente douce).
À partir de Bastille, la promenade suit tout d'abord un trajet sud-est sur le viaduc des Arts, à une dizaine de mètres au-dessus de l'avenue Daumesnil.

The entire courtyard of the estate is separated from the street by a high cast-iron grate, which also separates the building at Yaroslavov Val, 3 (the former house of Baron Steingel) from the sidewalk - and this is the residence of the Indian ambassador. I generally believed, until today, that this is a single territory whose resident is India and the sculptures are related to Indian culture.

На стіні біля дверей можна розгледіти (лише збільшивши розмір фото, з вулиці текст не читається) дошку з написом «Громадська приймальня Народного депутата Украіни» (прізвище депутата відсутнє).
Все подвірʼя садиби від вулиці відділяє висока чавунна решітка, яка також відділяє від тротуару будівлю Ярославів Вал, 3 (колишній будинок барона Штейнгеля) - а це вже резиденція посла Індії. Я взагалі вважав, до сьогодні, що це цілісна територія резидентом якої є Індія і скульптури мають відношення до індійської культури.
Ліворуч від цієї будівлі знаходиться особняк 1861 року, який було побудовано на замовлення Сергія Петровича Алферєва, лікаря-тарапевта, професора Київського університету. Автор проекту - Федір Федорович Голованов.
1877 року професор продає садибу барону Магнусу Штейнгелю. І на замовлення барона архітектор Олександр Шіле переробляє парковий фасад будинку. Також прибудовується одноповерхова крамниця, в якій відкривається винний магазин Штейнгеля.
35 days. Thirty five long, interminable, seemingly endless days. That's how long I was without internet thanks to the Australian goverment and it's forced upgrades. Away from SL and my friends and boy howdy did I miss you all. But I also missed myself.
I watched too much TV, read books, finally played Bioshock Infinite as I'd been promising myself I would do for years - and loved it so much played it and the DLC all the way through twice - and just generally moped my way around like a lost soul. What was the first thing my beloved sister Grazia said to me when I told her I was back?

I didn't have a boney arse to put on display, but I did have this boney spine which was a gacha by Antinatural, as well as the Oron ear deco by BTTB at Cake Day. Gloves by Noche, forearms by Amias - these two items can't really be worn together because of poke through, but I did it anyway. Pants are Riot, hair is Doux.
The beauty and grace are debatable but not the happiness at finally being back home.

It “encourages not only the illusion that we are all equally competent” but also the illusion “that we are all peers.”4 Since our society is based on the principle that we are all equal, we are encouraged to believe that everyone’s opinion is equally valid, regardless of whether it is based on actual knowledge. Reporters routinely ask ordinary people for their opinions, and “talking heads” on news programs spend hours speculating and pontificating on matters of which they have no direct knowledge, their comments based on presumptions with no attempt even to hide their biases. Any idea of maintaining a clear line between fact and opinion seems to have disappeared.

Вікна великого читального залу. Моє улюблене місце біля третього вікні зліва. В епоху без Інтернету, майже кожні вихідні впродовж 5-ти академічних років, я дивився на світ очима славетних авторів крізь призму іхніх книжок.
У ту забуту щасливу епоху без Інтернету, це була Державна республіканська бібліотека УРСР імені КПРС.
Після проголошення незалежності бібліотека стала називатися Державною бібліотекою України, а 1994 року, згідно з Указом Президента, вона набула статусу Національної парламентської бібліотеки України.

The Internet at our house had gone down earlier this afternoon. Spent an afternoon trouble shooting with AT&T tech support to no avail. It appeared to be something to do with my broadband modem, which has been with us for almost 10 years. Hopefully, the technician would come tomorrow morning and replace it. Until then, I can only post my daily photo from my phone. Without Internet, I feel like our house is in chaos like this photo and I am just the little guy at the left hand corner feeling helpless. Credit to my wife for taking this photo of me and the "House of Chaos".

Up on a hill beyond Glass Beach is a cemetery that dates back to the 19th century, a burial ground for workers at the McBryde Sugar Company's plantation. The small cemetery overlooking the ocean is filled with gravestones in Japanese and English that was only recently rediscovered.

Years Ago I Encountered an Image of You on the Internet
I knew I wanted to visit, hiking and exploring your wonder
The wind carried the scent of volcanic remnants as I ventured into your wonderland
A sky devoid of any clouds, stretching endlessly above
A distant mountain peak, once with fiery volcanic eruptions
To me, it is a land of undiscovered enchantment
Curiosity and reverence fill me as I step forward
On a path that leads ahead
Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one morning in Lassen Volcanic National Park. This is while hiking along the Cinder Cone Trail with the namesake feature to my front and looking to the south-southwest. I’d come across a similar image several years prior from a blog post (www.sfgate.com/california-parks/article/Don-t-make-the-sa...) describing different things to hike and explore in this national park. This setting is one that I had promised myself that I would attempt to capture when I came across it. The view is looking to one of the paths leading to the summit area. I chose though to take the path that goes behind and follows a different direction with the return coming down the trail to the front on the image right.
The rest of the image was attempting to align myself with the peak and some of the evergreen pine trees as foreground interest. I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 8 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.
