Ik vind dit vreselijke moeilijke bloemen om ze er echt mooi scherp op te krijgen ,en ze zijn zo mooi :-), maar deze kan er nog net bij door , al ben ik niet echt tevreden er over :-(

I find this awfully difficult flowers to get them really nice and sharp, and they are so beautiful :-), but this one can still get through, although I'm not really happy about it :-(

Sorbus intermedia... this year there is a large harvest of berries to the delight of the birds; in winter many waxwings will fly into my garden to feast on the berries...

Just realised I only ever uploaded one shot of this lovely little shieldbug, so think I can get away with indulging in sharing a few more!!! ;-)

Like the recently shared 'Ruby Glow', the variety 'Westerstede' is a Hamamelis × intermedia hybrid. While 'Ruby Glow' has very distinctive reddish flowers, 'Westerstede's' flowers are in the yellow colour range, which one finds more commonly in Hamamelis cultivars.
The variety was named by horticulturalist Heinrich Bruns after the town where he maintained a nursery. Westerstede is the capital of the Ammerland in Lower Saxony, Germany. Both the town and the region largely depend on the tourism industry and the cultivation of ornamental plants, and specifically tree nurseries. Westerstede is known for the Rhodo Festival, hosted every four years, which is marketed as the biggest exhibition of rhododendrons in Europe. As Bruns is not an uncommon name in that region and there seem to have been, and maybe still are, multiple nurseries under that family name, it is difficult to find out more about Heinrich. However, he seems to have cultivated a variety he named 'Orange' before 1955. That variety was later renamed 'Orange Beauty' by his Dutch colleague Vuyk van Nes and is today available under that name. Additionally, the varieties 'Orange Charmer' and 'Golden Charmer' appear to have been created in his honor as well as a variety that bears his name.

D. intermedia is a perennial herb which forms a semi-erect stemless rosette of spatulate leaves up to 10 cm tall. Plants in temperate regions undergo dormancy during which they form a winter resting bud called a hibernaculum.
As is typical for sundews, the leaf blades are densely covered with stalked mucilagenous glands which secrete a sugary nectar to attract insects. These then become ensnared by the mucilage and, unless they are strong enough to escape, are suffocated or die from exhaustion. The plant then secretes digestive enzymes from sessile glands and later absorbs the resulting nutrient solution to supplement the poor mineral nutrition of the plants natural environment.
D. intermedia blooms from June through August, forming up to 15 cm. tall inflorescences bearing 3-8 white flowers. Fertilized ovaries swell to form egg-shaped dehiscent seed capsules which bear numerous tiny seeds.

Another record shot, another species new to me: again, it will just about take 'L' but don't left-click.
The broken 'U' on the abdomen distinguishes this from the otherwise similar E. nivalis. The inset shows this more clearly.

The Cattleya intermedia from Restinga de Massambaba vegetates exclusively as a terrestrial plant.
The habitat environment is terribly hostile to orchids that live on islands of vegetation competing with gnarled shrubs, creepers, and other creeping plants, in inclement sun, which keep the temperature very high, in addition to the lack of rain.

This intermedia is a mixed up pup blooming after an extended fall season that saw very warm temps. Another spike should open soon.
This plant normally shows solid white flowers with just a red 'mosca' spot on the lip. I left it outside in full sun during our first cold snap (down to freezing) as an experiment so the cool temps and bright light would enhance any hidden colors. I was not expecting a light pink blush on the lip or the lavender at the tepal bases.
