I fell in love with a series of black and white photos I found of the drawing room in Mulberry House taken just after it was decorated in 1930. However, the photos showed the room unfurnished and so, having built the replica, I thought it would be an interesting project to try and 'restore' the room's furniture again! The real room was destroyed in WW2, although the fireplace survives in the V&A. Kept it black and white to enhance the 1930s feel...wanted it to feel like walking into an old movie.

Tried a different rug with this photo, as wondered if the other one a bit too 'busy'? What do you think? (see previous photo). This one has the feel of Syrie Maugham's famous 'White Room' about it: janehalldesign.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/syrie2...

Made the sofa and screen today. The lampshade is a prittstick lid.The rest is mainly painted playmobil. The fabulous firebasket was made by flickr friend tkmrabbits in sterling silver, based on the original 1930s design.
