The Super Courier was a light utility transport developed from a civilian design first tested in 1949. Its short takeoff and landing (STOL) capability allowed it to operate from a clearing the size of a football field, and its ability to fly slowly at speeds of approximately 25-35 mph made it an excellent aircraft for visual reconnaissance. The original version of the U.S. Air Force Super Courier made its first flight in 1958. The USAF purchased three aircraft for evaluation the same year, designating them L-28As and later redesignating them U-10As.
Eventually, more than 100 additional U-10As were ordered, mainly for use by air commando units in Southeast Asia. It was used for liaison, light cargo, small supply drop operations, psychological warfare (dropping leaflets and broadcasting propaganda), forward air controller (FAC) and reconnaissance missions.
The U-10D on display is painted and marked as an aircraft assigned to the 5th Air Commando Squadron in Southeast Asia in 1968.

Needing a rugged aircraft with excellent performance for Arctic rescue service, the U.S. Air Force acquired 15 Cessna Model 195 aircraft in 1949. Designated the LC-126, these light utility transport aircraft were identical to the Model 195 except for the paint scheme, interior fittings, emergency escape hatch and radio equipment. Delivered in January 1950, each LC-126 came equipped with an interchangeable set of floats and skis to permit operation from land, snow or water.
Equipped with Edo floats, the LC-126A on display (S/N 49-1949) is marked as it appeared while serving with the 10th Rescue Squadron at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska, in 1949.

The F-86H, perfected after the signing of the Korean Armistice, represented the practical application of knowledge gained from the thousands of combat missions flown by the earlier F-86A, E and F variants. Primarily a fighter-bomber, the F-86H was larger and heavier than its predecessors, but it had better all-around performance.
The airplane was produced from late 1953 to August 1955, North American produced more than 450 F-86Hs. Although never used in combat, it provided the U.S. Air Force with a formidable fighter-bomber aircraft until the advent of the supersonic F-100.
The museum obtained the F-86H on display from the New Jersey Air National Guard in November 1964. It is exhibited with part of its stressed skin removed to show the internal structure and placement of equipment.

Popularly known in the U.S. Air Force as the "Blue Canoe," the U-3 is the military version of the Cessna 310 twin-engine transport. The prototype made its first flight on Jan. 3, 1953, and production for the civilian market began in 1954. In 1957 the USAF selected the aircraft for service as a light administrative liaison, cargo and utility transport. The Air Force eventually bought 160 "off-the-shelf" under the original designation L-27A, later changed to U-3A. Thirty-five more were delivered in 1960-1961 as U-3Bs -- all weather versions with more powerful engines, additional cabin windows, a longer nose and a swept vertical fin.
The aircraft on display is one of several USAF U-3As that were transferred to the U.S. Army. It was flown to the museum in September 1984.
